I don't know about him being a total bust man, and that is really the point that Ron, whether he is a troll or not, is making.
Bonino didn't work out here and I agree the consensus here is that Sutter is a player better suited to what we need, his contract withstanding, but that doesn't mean Bonino wasn't a good complementary player here or with the Pens.
Van relied very heavily on Bonino and while he was streaky scorer he did hold down the 2C spot on a 100 point team and was asked to take on a lot of responsibility. Calling him a bust is false and does make it sound like you are trying to prove that the Canucks didn't lose the trade, which I agree they didn't. - belcherbd
Fair enough. Total bust may have been a bit harsh but not far off. His reg season was spotty at best and his PO performance in Van was atrocious. Good on him for playing well in PIT though with top 6 guys. It is what it is.
Plus the whole win/loss trade thing…the consensus here is that Sutter is the better overall player and many on here including myself stand by that. People will always argue that because Bonino was helped along to a cup final that we lost the trade outright. Can't get there. Many third line maybes get helped along to success. Sutter has played 20 games in van and has yet to establish himself…but he will. Whether Sutter will be the playoff presence for us vs Bonino right now remains to be seen. But posters acting as trolls coming in here trying to get us all to admit we got jobbed on the Bonino deal just isn't going to work. Too many intangibles. |

My original gripe was people perceiving a player in an unfairly negative light just to convince themselves they won a trade. Could still end up being a win-win (although I doubt it and think that's more wishful thinking than anything with all things considered) but my original comment was just that it was a BIG win for the Pens and I don't think that is very debatable anymore. - RonPielep
You disappeared for a few pages, I guess you needed to come up for air after having Bonino's pen-1-5 in your gullet... |

So Bonino was 28% in the faceoff circle. Does that mean we won the trade again? |

I made a bet that the sharks would win in 5. I don't mind losing the money. It's the chirping that will follow that's going to hurt. |

We could trade the Sedins and Edler and get 3 first round picks and finish last for a top 4 pick . Then we could be just like the Leafs - VANTEL
sounds good to me. |

Posted this this morning...clearly Mitchell was an anchor. Good read - CanuckDon
I like the fact that trader Jim took a chance to get a younger, bigger Dman instead of resigning hammer for the top four |

I like the deal, the fact that Yost says we got fleeced validates the fact it's a sound move. |

Dam Bonino sets up another goal and blocks 4 shots.....atleast he only won 32% of his faceoffs |

Don't care, he doesn't play for us. Move on. Didn't see the game , don't care about the results . Wrong thread. |

What team did Yost play for? Isn't he like some over exposed football fan that turned his attention to Hockey a few years ago?

I watched 500 questions and MasterChef. Maybe that will give you a little insight of how much I care about the Pens , Bonino or your trollish opinion |

Didn't watch it either, it's just a filler for the draft in a few weeks. |
