No doubt, one of the easiest calls in hockey, right next to a high-stick. 6 minutes of penalties missed for the Sharks, 2 of which would have setup a 5 on 3, and 2 minutes missed for the Pens on the other high stick. That's pretty bad. Still, it is what it is at this point... - wolfhounds
i still think the refs basically were resigned to not doing anything for either side tonight. at all.
yeah, that would favor the pens over the long haul for sure. as finesse and smaller as the pens are, the sharks PP is essentially a 50 50 proposition for scoring anymore. |

Let this sink in: The Penguins are two wins away from a Stanley Cup and no one outside of Pittsburgh gives a rats ass. |

Could be. It doesn't make a lot of sense from an officiating point of view, not actually enforcing the rules, but that might be the case. I understand letting them play, and most of us enjoy that kind of game, but certain plays have to be called. The worst is the change from game to game. I wonder what to expect from the stripes in SJ? |

dont get me wrong. i (frank)ing HATE this type of reffing as a fan. i think its inherently unfair to teams and the game overall. the pens, after years of it hurting them, are benefiting from it now in my opinion due to their powerplay needing hooked on phonics and the sharks PP being lethal. but it still sucks.
id rather calls be made, both ways. but if i have to choose one or the other, id just rather have consistency as the lesser of the inevitable evils.
but for years it was always LOLZ pens are too finesse sorry boys this is playoff hawkey don cherry yee haw man up or go homeee. and now those people don't have a right to gripe in my opinion. still though, you are right. it makes no sense. in what other line of work can it be lauded by the old guard when someone intentionally chooses to benefit the overall product by abdicating their duties? |

Sharks are a great team and could still win this series, but this narrative that the Sharks were just going to outmuscle and dominate the Pittsburgh Lollipop Guilds is horsepoop.
Welcome to today's NHL. "Speed, skill, smarts...speed, skill, smarts"....repeat it like a mantra. Up front and on back. Size has a place. It's just well after those. Flyers don't need to chase yesterday's Cup. |

i agree. i dont think this is done by any means. and i dont even think the pens are completely dominating play. make no mistake, when the sharks get that cycle going, the pens have problems.
but the sharks are having problems with the speed too. but yeah, people hailing size just for the sake of it are outdated. |

sanheim is actually a covert fan who is going to bring it down from the inside. for some reason, morin doesnt worry me as much. i think if he hits, he might reaaaallly hit, but there is a large chance he tops out as a poor mans coburn. ghost will obviously have his flaws but tremendous skills that are already apparent.
provorov scares the (frank) out of me. |

I think you're going a little overboard. He probably will just play pranks on that duster Brayden Schenn. |

You know, I didn't know that lady from Blazing Saddles was Madeline Kahn until you mentioned her. Now, I do, and I still would like to time travel to 1975 and bed her. |
