The Warriors Thunder game was on TNT, not ABC. Only the Finals are on ABC. The NHL has always put 2 games on NBCSN and the rest on NBC since it took over the TV rights back in 2005. This is nothing new.
Cleveland is not out of this series, not by a long shot. Even game 1 showed that the Warriors are goingto have match up problem with Irving and Kevin Love, let alone LeBron.

The NBA has always been more popular than the NHL and will continue to kill the league in ratings, no matter how much marketing or strategic placement of games the NHL does.

The Sharks have never been in the Cup final and they missed the playoffs entirely last year.

So to recap: you have a team everyone is expecting to win, the Warriors, albeit in a game 7, but not for the championship which they won just the year before, or the Sharks, doing something totally unprecedented in the Bay Area, and still got annihilated in the ratings.

White guys in their mid 30s aren't the dominant demographic, in this country, not even close. Networks and advertisers care about eyeballs on the television, that's it.

And even if you use that demographic as a key, poll the same group outside of a Buffalo or a Pittsburgh about the NHL, that percentage is about 60. There's a reason WGR plays the NBA Finals on the radio and not the Stanley Cup Finals, even in this self-proclaimed greatest hockey market in America.

And I was right about game one going to be the lowest rating against the game seven NBA game ..
I can understand why the ratings were so high for a game seven the Warriors were coming back 1-3 and forcing a game seven and potentially making more history that's exciting and they did

it's amazing how basketball went from a team sport, to a 1/2 team in the last 15 years

I disagree. I think he just doesn't like players that don't pay their dues and it just so happened three of those players were Russian. I don't think necessarily he wanted to trade Zadorov but Murray seems to act the same way with Girgensons that he did when he talked about Zadorov. Sergachev seems like a very jovial and positive person. Don't sense and ounce of entitlment with him and I think Murray will see that as well. If Chychrun is gone I think he's a real possibility probably over Jouvei actually

It doesn't matter that he's a joyful and positive person if your Russian he's not going to draft you he has a problem with Russians you can see it clear as day.. He wasn't even in charge of drafting in Anaheim or Ottawa. I'm sure he had some influence but he was assistant GM in Ottawa. I honestly don't believe it to be the case that he won't draft you if you're russian. It's a sterotype that they are entitled, lazy and want to play straight away in NHL or they bolt for KHL. Grigerenko was the only one who did that. Markov got a screw job but also wasn't super stellar. Zadorov held out from going to OHL but once he was here proved his worth and I think Murray appreciated his talent.

NBC wonders why they are the worst run of the four major stations should look no further then it being a Saturday night and them airing and I kid you not...

A repeat of Dateline and a repeat variety special....

America's got talent is a trash show, every major network besides ABC has football, Chicago is a trash show that gets mediocre ratings, Law and order SVu is on about its 20th season and has become a parody of itself. I work in the industry. I know for a fact NBC is the bottom dweller of the major four networks.

And you clearly missed the point. The fact they are airing a dateline repeat and a variety show repeat instead of a stanley cup finals game should tell you something about the ineptitude of the people running that station. I hope the deal ends soon so NHL can work something out with ESPN

They had incredibly mediocre success with some Chicago show and decided that they had the creativity of a rock and made about four (frank)ing squeal shows of it.
