NHL Stanley Cup Ratings are "ugly"

- Michael Pachla

The NHL really needs to figure some things out.
I've female doged about this before, but in order for me to watch Sharks games out here i have to subscribe to a mid-tier, 360 channel cable package, most of which are channels advertising some product or stupid reality shows.
The main arguement is that the NHL needs the revenue from cable companies. But dont they also need fans?
I've seen 3 playoff games on NBC this season. I cant watch any of them via gamecenter. Tonights and wednesdays games are/were blacked out. Sundays will be on NBC.
The NHl has its head so far up cable companies/ad revenue's ass, they're completely ignoring the fans. Couple that with nice weather, and there's your results.

Or maybe they just can't get enough Beachcomber reruns....

That's a Relic of a comment right there. As a Canadian, I am actually splitting my time between watching the finals and old Happy Days reruns.

I don't. He want's too much money he was beyond awful last year and we need a new influx of talent here. If we can can get a fair deal or use him in a package for a fair deal then see ya!

I think Nash or someone on Columbus, LA, Minnesota or Chicago is who they will deal with

Dealing with the Kings may mean taking Brown back, don't think that's a good idea. Tanner Pearson is a good player but IMO, he's not the stud we need.

Yet you accuse him of the same thing as Couture. The reality is he gets no special treatment. Nearly every analyst said there was no cheating on the draws. Every Center in the league looks for an edge on draws. That is the true reality of it. That also includes Couture. But hey, why should I try to stop you from spreading nonsense not based on facts.

Crosby gets no special treatment.....ooooook...

maybe not in the faceoff circle...but everywhere's else on the ice? come on now..

Only way we take Brown back is if we get Muzzin which I would consider if we can find a way to dump some of our salary elsewhere

It would suck to take on Brown's contract if they got Doughty in the deal, but Muzzin???

Brown is signed for 6 more seasons at almost 5.9M per season, and he puts up 27 points per season.

Moulson, who many of us hate, makes less, for less time, and even in a crap season he just put up 21 points

I'm going to assume Brown probably plays PK time, but man, that salary is too much of an anchor to not get back some stud - and I'm not sure Muzzin is anyone's idea of a stud.

Crosby was one of only two regulars to show up for practice between games 1 and 2. Interestingly enough he worked on two things. Shooting from the hash marks and repeatedly taking FO's.

I understand a lot of the hate thrown his way, but he's borderline obsessive compulsive with improving his game. We've seen a lot of stars come through Pittsburgh (in all sports) and I think the only player that has ever compared in the "work effort" department is Jagr.

He's not cheating....he's beating.

Doughty is untouchable. No chance any team gets him. Muzzin is a perennial 40 point defenseman and was a point per game player in this years playoffs. I'd take Browns contract for sure for him. I think Murray could find a way to ditch some salary if that's the case.

The salary isn't the bad part, the term is. For all the grief Moulson gets at 5M for 5 years - of which there's luckily "only" 3 left, I can't fathom having Brown at nearly 6M for 6 more years. That would cause some serious havoc when the kids need new contracts

True. But if you find a way to get rid of Bogosian's deal or Moulsons you save a bunch. Plus not offering Girgensons or Foligno a long term deal would help

Have to give to get. Find a way to shed Moulson and Bogosian's salary and term and I can stomach taking on Brown. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery will bring him back to his old form..
