Muzzin is the guy we need but not at the cost of 6 more years of Brown.......... no way.
- SABRES 89

Yeah, I wasn't saying Muzzin is bad (I don't know, so I wouldn't judge anyways), but to take on a crap contract like that you need someone that is a true household name of NHL fans in order to accept that poop sandwich

Have to give to get. Find a way to shed Moulson and Bogosian's salary and term and I can stomach taking on Brown. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery will bring him back to his old form..
- bluengold12

Isn't he 30+? He's not coming back to anything more than 40 points

27, 27, 28 - point totals the last 3 seasons.

For a fanbase that has people pissing and moaning about Zemgus Girgensons who has scored 22, 30, 18 in that same span (12 points less, in over 30 games less) - it would be a horror

I'm not sticking up for Brown but he brings more to the table then Girgesnsons does and in this scenario you'd be getting your top pairing LHD which is pretty important and may risk taking on something bad.

These bad contracts are like hot potato. Sooner or later, a team is going to get stuck with a contract they simply cant get rid of. Considering we already have moulson and to a point, bogo, i wouldnt add any until i could subtract them first. Moulson has a NTC and i bet all the teams on his list can't afford him. Moulson probably isnt going anywhere. Browns contract is an entire bag of boat anchors. Feel free to hope, but i do t think any team in their right mind takes that contract.

Muzzin played 2nd pair at best this season though, how is he your top guy? He wasn't paired with Doughty much, only about 10-12 games. I can get the argument that he'd be Buffalo's #1 LD, but that doesn't mean he's a true top pair guy.

Sorry, just not interested in taking on a crap contract - whether brown or some other big salary dump - for a 2nd pairing guy.

His numbers are easily top pairing. LA is in a luxary to have two top LHD in him and Martinez. Martinez has better chemistry with Doughty which is why he is paired with him probably and also it evens out their lines and gives the 2nd pairing a great LHD there.

Who played with Doughty then? Both Muzzin and Martinez are listed as LHD

On the Panthers new logo/jersey unveil:

"To celebrate the unveiling, the Panthers held a party for fans at their arena with players Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck, Shawn Thornton and Steven Kampfer, and alumni Ed Jovanovski, Radek Dvorak, Bill Lindsay and Olli Jokinen."

It would suck to take on Brown's contract if they got Doughty in the deal, but Muzzin???

Brown is signed for 6 more seasons at almost 5.9M per season, and he puts up 27 points per season.

Moulson, who many of us hate, makes less, for less time, and even in a crap season he just put up 21 points

I'm going to assume Brown probably plays PK time, but man, that salary is too much of an anchor to not get back some stud - and I'm not sure Muzzin is anyone's idea of a stud.

Hot take - Moulson rebounds for 40 points next season.

moulson and a 3rd to the yotes for a 7th

easy way to create space

- homiedclown

We don't really need cap space though. When we have to sign the kids contracts, Moulsen, Bogo, Kane, Franson, Gionta, #4 (name escaping me), will all be off the books. Probably Ennis too. Team will be totally different

I'm not a trade guy, and I'm obviously just tossing something out here (since I've seen a few places now with talk of Subban being traded).

Would it be nuts to see something with these as pieces (not sure what would need added on either side):

To TB:

Subban

To Montreal:

Hedman, Drouin

I imagine TB still needs to add since both are going into contract years, but would there be much more needed? I only post this because of the Stamkos/Subban stuff - this could get them together, keep Stamkos in TB, and Montreal still makes out pretty well.

Man Peters and Rivet are terrible interviewers...

I was trying to listen to them talk to Chychrun and they asked the dumbest questions and spent half of the interview with Petey trying touch the kids arms..

Wanted to hear what he thought of Buffalo? If he knew anyone in the organization, if he interviewed with Buffalo etc.

They barely asked any questions...
