Keeping 8 and draft Chychrun isn't bad. Go sign an older UFA LhD for 3 seasons while he "seasons".
That said, I have been rattling the cage for trading into 4 to get Tkachuck...that is still my hope. 8 + Girgenson + a 2nd.

Sign Goligoski. Just friggin' sign Stamkos. Draft Clayton Keller...that kid is gonna be sick. The thing that always gets me are these behemoth's who barely (if even) produce at a point-a-game clip in juniors getting ranked so high...while the small players who produce at a ridiculous rate drop. Haven't guys like Gaudreau, T Johnson, Briere, Patty Kane, Kucherov, Skinner, etc proven that you don't need to be big to be effective. Especially with 3-on-3 ot where guys like Gaudreau thrive. Go check out Keller's highlight video's on youtube and try and tell me that this kid with Eichel wouldn't be absolutely dynamite for years to come.

I think we are overpaying, and its still not what the oilers would want. I was looking at 2 charts today- one said the 4th overall is worth 8 + 30, the other one said 8 + 2 3rd rounders. Girgensons is worth more than 30 overall. The problem of course is that the other team still has to play ball. My guess is 8 + bogosian is what edmonton would want, probably with salary retained. Not that we should do it, just saying girgensons or pysyk isnt what they want. Tkachuk would have to be pretty sweet compared to chychrun for this to make sense. I guess its just the difference between baiting a hook and hoping for a bite, and actually catching the fish.

Getting Ktachuk who will likely be 50x better than Girgensons isn't an over payment at all. Girgensons is not worth 30th overall. Probably much less then that.
That being said Edmonton wants a RHD. Yes I think 8 + Bogosian would get it done however Bogosian has a no trade and would never waive it to back up to Alberta
