The Capfriendly website also has O'Riley with NMC for his contract and he doesn't have one though so a bit conflicting info there
- bluengold12

Yea that's interesting. This provides a bit of clarity on bogo

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/wpg130729.html

Sounds like hes got the NMC now and NTC in the final 2 years.

Sounds like Minnesota's pick is in play. They are looking for a young player that can contribute right now. I would be into picking up another first rounder...

I don't think we have anything to offer them with that

Or possible a trade down scenario where we end up with the 15th pick and one of their d-men

If they're willing to trade there pick for a player I don't see why they'd be willing to move up and lose a player.

Good point.

just brainstorming here

May include a player like ennis (even tho id be hesitant to give him up). If we can end up with a solid young d-man and their pick id be for it

They get pick 8 and ennis

we get Brodin and pick 15

Sign Goligoski. Just friggin' sign Stamkos. Draft Clayton Keller...that kid is gonna be sick. The thing that always gets me are these behemoth's who barely (if even) produce at a point-a-game clip in juniors getting ranked so high...while the small players who produce at a ridiculous rate drop. Haven't guys like Gaudreau, T Johnson, Briere, Patty Kane, Kucherov, Skinner, etc proven that you don't need to be big to be effective. Especially with 3-on-3 ot where guys like Gaudreau thrive. Go check out Keller's highlight video's on youtube and try and tell me that this kid with Eichel wouldn't be absolutely dynamite for years to come.
- gipper0073

You're speaking to the choir gipper - I've been saying this for a while. Clayton is a better winger than center - put him with Eichel and reinhart= awesome line. He won't be ready this year though - needs to add strength, weight and hopefully he grows a couple more inches. After watching tons of.video, I think he ends up being the most productive forward in the draft after the top 2, maybe 3.

question for 89-

some of the players that i have seen mentioned as linked to the sabres- fowler, brodin, eberle- these dont seem like murray type of players. do you think he would go off script to acquire one of these players, especially considering that the price is going to be very high?

edit- also if we stay at 8, does he consider a player like nylander or jost, or just draft chychrun?

- rover16

I know Eberle was talked about and I've said it in the past but I haven't heard about the new rumor being talked about. I didn't hear Brodin but we have dealt with the Wild in the past and they do need another forward that can score. Fowler rumor is always out there for a couple teams.
I can't answer about Nylander, and Jost because I haven't heard them mentioned except for in this site but I did hear Chychrun. Is Chychrun ready to play now ? I don't know much about the kids in the draft, I usually get my info on the kids in the draft by reading what the folks on here post.

Chychrun was potentially the #2 pick going into the season but had a up and down year. He absolutely would not be ready to play in the NHL this year. This is no ekblad. If you watch one prospect video, watch the u18 the game between USA CAD. Keller was unbelievable, chychrun had a game to forget. I know it's only one game but......

I'm not a trade guy, and I'm obviously just tossing something out here (since I've seen a few places now with talk of Subban being traded).

Would it be nuts to see something with these as pieces (not sure what would need added on either side):

To TB:

Subban

To Montreal:

Hedman, Drouin

I imagine TB still needs to add since both are going into contract years, but would there be much more needed? I only post this because of the Stamkos/Subban stuff - this could get them together, keep Stamkos in TB, and Montreal still makes out pretty well.

- stashu

IMO Montreal couldn't do the trade fast enough.

Thanks for the answers. I heard the top 3 are nhl ready. So best we probably get with chychrun (or anybody else) is 8 games then back to juniors. So the holes in our roster probably wont immediately be filled by pick 8.

I was going to say there is no way the Habs don't strongly consider that.

Suban is great but Hedman is just as good IMO, they bring different things to the table but I'm not sure Suban is more valuable to a team than Hedman. I'm not sure Yzerman makes a Suban for Hedman trade straight up to be honest. Putting Drouin into the mix makes that a no brainer.

Agree with everything but people will hate that he's a center etc small etc and if we take him 8th
- GERBE!!!75PTS

But they won't be complaining when he puts up numbers. His skill is off the charts. And I agree with Turbo in that he's more productive as a winger. I think what the Sabres need right now is more offense and speed. We have some good young pieces on D...but landing a potential top line winger would be huge.

He reminds me a lot of Ennis, only smaller (not good) but with a lot more skill (very good).

People are going to disagree but I believe headman is head and shoulders better then subban I wasn't a believer three years ago but you can't teach the skills he has with the size and the speed it's Incredible he's just scratching the surface of maybe becoming the best defenseman in the league .. Honestly this is The path I thought Myers was going to end up on after his rookie season

If they would put the (frank)ing games on NBC I bet the ratings would be at least double what they are. Still horrendous for a professional sport championship series, but at least try something. They said on GR the other day that game 1 was watched by ~1/3 of the people that watched American Ninja Warrior in the 9pm? time slot on NBC. That is absolutely pathetic.

For the regular season start airing games on NBC on Friday or Saturday nights. There aren't any good shows on those days anyway. You'd get the people who will watch no matter what and a chit ton of people just flipping around and maybe settle on the game because nothing else is on, and there's probably not much to do in Minneapolis on a Saturday night in February when it's -27 degrees outside.

I just thought of your last point the other day, exactly. Hedman is what I always wanted Myers to be.

I'm pretty sure everyone thought we struck gold we have a defenseman for the next 15 years . I thought he was going to pile up trophies every year for the best defenseman in the league

I still don't know where all that potential went. 48 points as a rookie and then nothing.

I think his issues are all mental. Too much raw ability, and he showed the potential in his rookie year, like you said.
