Can't see Yotes giving up two first round picks.

I could see them giving a first and a second

- VANTEL

Yup...if that were to happen that'd be the likely scenario. 1st & a 2nd...

Tough decision, we get to see what kind of stones JB has. He needs a big win.

His big win, years down the road, will be after he's fired. All the kids he's drafted and going to draft will put the Canucks in a nice position in the future.

Dubois reminds me of Sean Monahan, that'd be a huge win for JB

Would any of you be pi$$ed if JB took a defence-man instead of Dubois or Tkachuck?
- thundachunk

Only if he took them at #5 when he could trade down to 7 and get the dman

to go from 7 to 5 would take their 1st + 2nd + 3rd to do it if the #20 isn't available.

No trading down. Trade up. I would trade up. #2 if possible. I would trade this years 1st, next years and Hansen for Laine. Yes I know its a lot but Imo Laine is a future OVI. Plus I like his attitude. We need that type of character in the locker room.

Totally agree. No to trading down. Tkachuk or Dubois are great picks. If they want more picks then tell JB to stop trading them away.

After the trade for Guddy (which by the way, im a fan of) maybe. but if you can get a premium top pick regardless of whether or not it a f or d take it.

Tkachuck is really rising his stocks and appears to be, in my opinion the better choice than PLD.

The bloodline doesnt hurt either. kinda gives you a little more belief.

I've said this before but I don't think he's the better pick but more of the safer pick. Dubois has a higher ceiling with some added risk imo. This is strictly based off the fact of how he transitioned to playing center so well and ended up exploding with success. No matter where he goes he's gonna be a great player.

It's an interesting scenario for sure. I find it hard to believe Winnipeg trades it in any circumstance because of how much talent they already have drafted.

If it was a possibility, then by all means try to get your franchise player in Laine.

You may be right, I just checked the last time a team moved down from a top five position, it was the Islanders in 2008.

The Leafs moved up from #7 to #5, they gave up a 2008 #7 pick, 2008 3rd round pick and a 2009 2nd round pick.

For the record they could've had, at the Islanders option, #7, a 2008 2nd round pick and a 2009 3rd round pick for the #5 pick....not exercised.

According to the scouting reports, the big knock on Tkachuk is his skating. The Canucks have already been bitten in the ass from this, Prust and Higgins. Bennng is a fan of guys who can skate with NHL speed.

You may be right but if you have good leadership and a good coach he will be put in his place right quick. With that 50 million dollar coach of yours he should be able to get him in line and buying into the system.

Most Toronto fans will hate this kid. He keeps telling everyone he is better than Mathews

They wont pick him anyway so doesnt matter. I wouldnt be upset but im pretty sure theyre taking Mathews. Laine has already been sent home from a tournament for saying hes going to kill his coach and giving him the finger for not getting enough ice time so that sorta raises some flags, maybe he out grew that though i dont know.
