Not sure they assemble their draft list with the intention of making it domino #1. The scouts just want the best player they can get.
How that affects what Hextall ends up doing with those assets once they've been drafted... is kind of outside the scope of the draft conversation, I'd think. - Tomahawk
Bro how fast would you trade Morin and a 2nd or something for Avs top pick to take Keller? |

Swing Morin+ for the Habs' 9th or Avs' 10th. Draft Keller. Biblical level profit. (I would do this so fast. So fast). - Mononoke
Yeah, I'd take Bean in a heartbeat at 18.
I'd trade Morin for those two picks in a heartbeat, too. |

I could see either Bergevin or Roy/Sakic doing something that stupid. |

Is it so outlandish a trade though? I could see them actually being interested, and that price is not unreasonable.
Both teams could really use a D. Habs have always loved Morin. Roy wants Avs to get bigger, especially on D. Hell, they're dumping a stellar Barrie because of it. This one is almost NHL ready. GMs still drool over his size and skating, he's improved every year, and they probably still believe he could be a top pair d man or better. I do like Sam, but damn...that would be definition of selling high. |

No, I really do think those teams are dumb enough to do it. Sorry, the way I worded it was weird. |

Really hope Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Colorado, Boston continue to do stupid things... and it leads to another Konecny falling into the Flyers' laps. With Carolina and Arizona in front of the Flyers tho... I don't think Keller survives between those two. So I'm hoping for Jost or Bean at 18. |

I think Keller is gone by Devils/Ottawa at the latest. It's why Habs/Avs make sense. I could see Arizona taking Keller...prospect wise it doesn't make the most sense, they could use Juolevi/Serg more, but their GM is smart, and it would be a smart pick long term. They are bursting with forwards though...OEL needs help. I think Jost is not there at 18...if he wasn't going to be there anyways, he killed at interviews insiders say.
For me, realistically at 18 it is Rubs, Kunin, Bellows, dark horse Abramov with Bean as a d man. |

Have an idea...
MDZ for bozak. There's our 3rd line center. - Just5
Trade a top 4 defenseman for a 3rd line center? Not a good idea.

Just watched the video of the Flyers refusing to move the puck up ice vs. TB's 1-3-1...so good. Love it when Pronger shoots the puck down the ice when they blow play dead. |

How about MDZ and small plus for Hanzal?
Arizona could keep the pick they owe us for the Pronger trade. |

Yeah, it's unlikely, but we would be stacked down the middle with G and these two big guys.

Montreal I could see because of the French factor. Colorado already have Zadorov. |

For what it's worth csn mentioned the flyers didn't interview any prospects expected to go in the top 10 |

Maybe I didnt drink my coffee yet, but does this plan involve picking the Bean at 18 and then going back in time to acquire the 9th or 10th overall? |

Wouldn't be shocked to see hexy try and get to the top 4 with supposedly a weaker draft and a lot of picks. Still unlikely. With the Russian center coming over to play junior, I like him even more

Is it fair to say that Del Zotto's best years as a player, could still be ahead of him? Early in his career, he put up strong offensive numbers, but wasn't great defensively. Almost played his way out of the league, rebounded, and to his credit, made himself into a better defenseman. Did his wrist injury limit his ability to produce offensively last year? What if he combines his improved defensive play, and with the offensive production he had in the past. I'm not anxious to trade Del Zotto. |

I agree. Flyers need an experienced defenseman with Streit/MacDonald on their way out. |

I dont think Boston has done things as stupidly as everyone says. The Hamilton trade sucked but it has become clear there was something else there. Rinaldo trade was hilarious. Some of their extensions are puzzling. But they got tons of value for Lucic and Jones. We dont know if those picks are as bad as people felt at the time |

Also appears will lose Eriksson for nothing. I guess they had to keep him though.
Using three consecutive picks on those particular players probably wasn't the smartest thing either. Chara is going to retire soon and Krecji and Bergeron are going to begin aging. They could be in for some rough years ahead when things could have been different.
They could still have Hamilton along with Connor and Barzal waiting in the wings |
