Maybe we should scratch him a few more times

I dont think Boston has done things as stupidly as everyone says. The Hamilton trade sucked but it has become clear there was something else there. Rinaldo trade was hilarious. Some of their extensions are puzzling. But they got tons of value for Lucic and Jones. We dont know if those picks are as bad as people felt at the time

What PSG said on the last page.

And follow the chain of the Kessel trade to the present day... Kessel gone, Seguin gone, Hamilton gone... They totally botched what should have been a landslide win for them... instead they're left with nothing but Joe Morrow and a few middling prospects.

Also appears will lose Eriksson for nothing. I guess they had to keep him though.

Using three consecutive picks on those particular players probably wasn't the smartest thing either. Chara is going to retire soon and Krecji and Bergeron are going to begin aging. They could be in for some rough years ahead when things could have been different.

They could still have Hamilton along with Connor and Barzal waiting in the wings

That is like saying Hextall is to blame for the last two years. Sweeney was dealt a poop hand. The writing was on the wall for a while and they made some half assed attempts at being competitive. Since they didnt or wont win, hindsight will always say that they should've traded away their older vets.

again...not Sweeney. They have made terrible deals in the past, but the idea that they are being run like Joffrey Baratheon is overblown

We were talking about Boston in general, not Sweeney right?

(I'd wager a lot of the guys above are still in the room, and probably said many of the same things about Kessel, Hamilton, and god knows who else)

I really don't think his hand was that bad. Certainly not as bad as the Flyers when Hexy took over.

Is it fair to say that Del Zotto's best years as a player, could still be ahead of him? Early in his career, he put up strong offensive numbers, but wasn't great defensively. Almost played his way out of the league, rebounded, and to his credit, made himself into a better defenseman. Did his wrist injury limit his ability to produce offensively last year? What if he combines his improved defensive play, and with the offensive production he had in the past. I'm not anxious to trade Del Zotto.

I'm not, either. His offense may well have been affected by the wrist injury.

The only reason I think about trading him is all the LHD coming up in the near future, and the fact he's a UFA looking for a raise.
