I seen social media trade names being tossed out like Nash Malkin, the entire Sens teams, Barrie and RFAs it is going to be afun Summer.

As far as our RFAs I would like Etem 2 years 1 mil, Pedan one year 775k , Vey one year 1 mil , Zalewski 2 way deal , Sven leave open to offer sheet.

interesting

Over $1,239,226 to $1,877,615 Third-round pick
Over $1,877,615 to $3,755,233 Second-round pick

might be interesting to see the market, how he is valued by other clubs, I can't see an offer sheet for much more than 2.5, if Sven is demanding a big payday, an offer sheet could push the negotiations.

If there is an offer sheet, it would be disappointing to see Sven walk, we end up getting a 2nd rounder and if that doesn't pan out... ouch.

if he is demanding too much, what can you do?

I figured if it is for a third rounder then Canucks match offer and get a bargain. If it is a second round pick

Can you imagine how quickly the "baertchi wasn't worth a 2nd round pick crowd" would freak out about asset management if we lose him to an offer sheet ?
He is worth more than a second round pick. I'm sure they will get him signed soon

I was thinking if another club was willing to offer between 1.5/1.8, it doesn't really make sense if the Canucks are likely to match, we have lots of cap space, why risk the ill will between clubs with an offer sheet?

If it is higher and the club that offers is a bottom 5 team, it might be worth it, but with Sven, he is an NHLer, and the pick has a chance to be one.

Maybe if JB has his eyes on a player that is projected in that range, it might be worth the risk of letting Sven walk. I'd prefer he stayed.

I am not saying they wont but I was Benning I would wait and see what the possibilities are. It could also keep the price down

I like Sven but don't love Sven. He is a second or third line LW . I like Etem's speed and bulk for third line. If you are talking about bringing in a top 6 where do they play seeing 3 spots are taken.

Just food for thought on this one, Trevor Linden was drafted as a RW'er, where he played in Medicine Hat. The Canucks converted him to a center.

I like both, but what in your mind sets Dubois apart from Brown at the center position? Keep in mind Brown is a natural center and more of a puck distributor from what I've seen, which is admittedly limited.

- LeftCoaster

I think the biggest thing that separates Dubois from Brown is physicality. Brown has size and apparently will use it to protect the puck but Dubois is a very punishing hitter and engages actively in the middle of the ice to break up plays.

I see Dubois as a more skilled, more polished Virtanen (at that age) without the shot but can play C and wing.

Yeah I agree. Like I was saying I like SB, I dont love SB. If Canucks draft Tkachuck SB becomes less important and is trade bait

We need Benning to make a trade this week or sign and overpay a RFA so we can have something to talk about.

I think the next " big event" on the calendar is the buyout window. There will be plenty of chatter once we know what does or doesn't happen with Burrows and Higgins.

Here is a trade I would consider. Burrows ( or Higgins if needed) for Hartnell and Rychel.

Before you shake your head , it is reported Lucic wants 6 x6 , that is horrible. Similar type players like Brouwer or Ladd are going to be hunting in the 6 mil range also.
Hartnell has 3 years left at 4.75 and brings the same type of game. He still scores over 20 goals a year and brings sandpaper. Yes he is 34. On top of that Kirby Rychel is a young player much like Sven so it could be considered as a second round pick.

Less Cap , less term , get a young prospect, and move out Burr.

- VANTEL

I don't think that Burrows will net Hartnell let alone him and Rychel.

Hartnell for Dorsett would probably be more appealing to them.

I think it is either June 15th or 48 hours after the SC final until june 30th. Whichever comes first.

They would shed 2 million a year for 3 years doing that while getting a fan favorite and effective although overpaid player.

Burrows will give them 4.75 like you said but that won't help them until Burrows contract expires after next season.

Columbus has some pretty replaceable players coming off their books following next season in Boll and Campbell so my guess is that they really need those cap saving for this upcoming season.

At the end of the season, Burrows was speculating that the draft would determine whether he was bought out.

The rumors have been out there that they want to move Hartnell. I have heard them more than once and by some legit Insiders

I agree and I wouldn't be surprised to see it but I doubt it is for Burrows or Bickell or another player like that.

Hartnell is still worth something even if they need to move some cap and definitely is not a negative asset.
