The thing with this one it is a big juicy fastball right down the center of plate. Some GM is going to swoop in with a 3.6 offer. Minny have no wiggle room. All their top salaries have NMC. The only tradable one is Spurgeon and his salary jumps to 5.75 next year. They have painted themselves in a corner. - VANTEL
Definitely. They have approx $10m in space but only 8 forwards under contract for next season. I didnt realize how much they have tied up in defensemen, I guess its good the snagged Mike Reilly last offseason, he will be a cheap roster fill in whether hes NHL ready or not |

If the salary goes to 73 they will have 10 mil otherwise they have 7 mil. I bet teams that need solid young D are licking their chops, like EDM and CGY |

I know you guys hate offer sheets but Canucks should target Dumba at 3.6 mil for five years. It would cost a second round pick.
Minny is so cash strapped. They have 5 NMCs and one NTC. They have about 7 mil in space and 8 players to sign. They can't afford to sign Dumba. - VANTEL
I like this idea, although i think it would cost more than 3.6.
Teams have ways of making space. |

This is the whole point , at 3.6 it costs only a second round pick , anything higher costs a first and third.

I get that, i just think Minny would happily accept that cost.
Plus we traded our 2nd, no? |

If they matched they would have 3.6 mil left to sign 5 forwards and a back up goalie. That would be 600 k allowed per player. They already have 6 D men they can't afford to put their money on D |

And they would in a heartbeat. Trading pomminville, koivu o vanek are likely options. I expect to see some shakeup on that roster, they will ship or buyout someone with a big contract. If they trade a dumba or Brodin, it would (and should be) for more than we can afford after the eg trade. They need what we don't have: scoring forwards

Koivu Pomminville and Vanek all have no movement clause. What GM would trade for Vanek or Pomminville? |

There would be a gm who thinks they can get vanek to score 20-30 again in a more offensive system. He's not that far removed from those numbers and is at least somewhat proven. Similar with pomminville. I don't think they would get a great return, but cap relief and picks. |

I admit pomminville might be tough, he brings a lot of different things though. Seemed to be much better on Buffalo. |

I don't think so. His cap hit is too high for a top team and he doesn't bring enough for a bottom team |

So you honestly don't see him as a 20-30 goal scorer again? |

I agree, he seems to be a bust every time. Yet GM's seem to pony up picks/offers for him. He's not old. A team like Florida might take a swing. I don't think it would be a top team adding Vanek, rather a Calgary/Edmonton or columbus who think they can playoff push (whether its realiusstic and whether Vanek can do anything aside) |

i thought Dumba would be a good trade target, before we signed Gudsy.
wouldn't be surprised to see him traded after some o/s threats, ala Dougie Hamilton. |

Chevy is a smart GM. It would be very costly.
Edit : my mistake I thought you meant Trouba. I would trade for Dumba if it was cheap.
