I'm not anti-DeBrincat, but even before reading up on him, I wouldn't have touched him before round 2. Little is fine. Little and slightly above average speed is worrisome to me. - Jsaquella
Not saying I'd draft him either but he's a goal scorer & getting more 1st round talk than Abramov at the moment. |

You want the best player available and all that doo daa.
I get that. I just want something as close to top 6 talent with decent size as possible. Trade up to get it if need be. - flyer_nutter
Uh, Kunin has top 6 talent and projectability. |

His report was fascinating. Literally checked off every single buzz word I look for in a dman. IF he fell to 48, which I'm questioning if he falls to even 30, he would be a fascinating pick. - Mononoke
Yeah, a good read........we'll see how he translates into the college game. |

Cool. Then explore Bellows and if not Kunin.
I'm satisfied. |

Is he? Both kind of are in that short player 1st/2nd middle ground. The 2 inches and speed may give Abramov the advantage come draft night.
Even in his combine, the scouts seemed to really just like him. I remember watching an interview and he is just infectiously fun. On and off the ice. |

I know. I just worry a guy that small and lacking the blazing speed will need to be a strong skater-like Marty St Louis or Theo Fleury. DeBrincat doesn't really have that quality to him. |

I had Bellows at the top of my list until I dug deeper on Kunin. Kunin, to me, is a better prospect with a higher upside. Won't be upset with either. Hell there's 6 or 7 guys I'd be totally happy with. Both forwards and defense |

I may indeed prefer Kunin.....I am a big Bellows fan having watched every U18 game. Kunin has a more well-rounded game, not too far off goal scoring abilities, better skater. Bellows definitely is not a Keller cling-on though.
I also am a fan of the C/W versatility. |

I liked Kunin before, but I really went deep on his videos and reports and I just love his game. The smarts are so apparent, and he's got the skill to go along with it. He gets in people's faces, too |

I went through all the way to get a general feel, now I'm stating to go deeper in reading. I'm skipping through the NRs, but reading intently on guys rated above 100 or so |

Solid. Biggest concern is offensive ceiling. Good all around player, lot of hockey sense, safe pick to be a 2nd/3rd line C |

He stuck out to me -- he was on my list already as a potential 3/4 rounder
I seem to have quite a lot of 19-20 year olds on my list for latter picks. I always believe that area is not mined enough.
A few other names I have: Filip Berglund RD 3/4 round.....Henrik Borgstrom C 2/3.....Joachim Blichfeld RW/LW 5/6... |

Cameron Clarke is someone Edwards seem to be high on. Very unusual and risky pick. Description sounds terrific though. But again, the situation: 20 year old D man (who used to be a forward) playing in the NAHL in Texas. He could be a ballsy 5-7 round pick. Red Line is also very flattering of him as a potential home run pick.
Cameron Clarke is a 1996 born and thus a third time NHL draft eligible. Moving on from Sarnia Legionnaires of GOJHL, Clarke has spent the 2015-2016 season playing for Lone Star in NAHL where he has produced 51 points in 63 games. Clarke has decent size. Although he has some filling out to do, he has good reach and uses his stick intelligently. Possessing above-average mobility in all 4 directions, Clarke does a good job maintaining his gaps and exhibits high amount of control over the space on the ice with his reach. He is good at keeping inside body position and steering the forwards to the perimeter. He uses that especially well while skating in reverse and defending in transition. While not small, Clarke could engage physically at a more consistent level and he isn’t a big physical presence on the ice.
Clarke is an intelligent puck-mover that plays with no panic in his game and does a good job finding solutions. He can start the break-out and also has good skating ability, making him a strong player in transition. Although we have seen him use his shot from the point, he is more of a puck-distributor than a big threat with his shot. The fact that Clarke is already 20 years old playing in what is not the strongest league does raise some questions, but we can’t ignore the fact that Clarke does possess legitimate upside as a smart, mobile blueliner that has some room to fill out. |
