Just missed( no particular order)
Allison, Choslowski, Girard, Raddysh, Grundstrom, Laberge, Gregor, Mete, Debrincat, Fox,and Pu

- TheGhost_isBare

Girard, Mete, Fox, Dineen, Pu, Laberge, Allison were all not exactly given great endorsements by Black Book....some worse than others.

The other day we were throwing around the idea of Morin + 2nd/3rd for the 9th pick to take Keller.

I could see Benning taking Morin + 18. It would probably be Dubois there, but it's a trade I'd do. Take our 2nds, move up for Abramov or Dahlen or someone. Then apotheosis.

It's not a bad idea. Abramov is a guy that rose for me after reading up and watching more highlights. He's a damned good player

Some of us spend hours reading prospect reports and watching games/clips. Others spend 5 minutes making Missing: Joe Pavelski memes.

Neither is inherently more valuable than the other.

ladies and gents, I am going to put this small rant out again this year.

if you are planning on your kids going to college as cheaply as possible, they need grades

A kid in the top 10% nationally in grades will have 100s of schools to choose from at a competitive rate.
a kid in the top 1% of their athletics but bottom 50% will have 10s of schools to choose from at a competitive rate.

end small rant

If I moved to 9th I'd also consider Jost, Logan Brown, or Sergachyov

Howden wouldn't be a bad choice either at 18

Same with McAvoy

Agree on both. Howden drives the net like a freight train

Agree with him on both. A bit low on Jones, but I have my issues with him as a player that I saw every game.

Howden just strikes me as the safe, good Canadian pick. 18 feels high for him.

He had a good U18s, where I saw him, but I do think that his brother Quinton put up the exact same stats at every level and has been something of a bust. That's circumstantial, but I still feel he's too safe/low ceiling.

There is a bit of that. Howden does have a good shot, and I did like what I saw on the videos available online.

So do I. I find Jones has dynamic skills on the rush, is a better skater, has the physicality that Gauthier lacks, underrated hands, and is a very good PK'er. Gauthier I do not like and would avoid. Jones, I just find there are better players.

My main worry is that, when I saw his games, I kept seeing the same things....everything off the rush. When the cycle game is going on, he just doesn't have great offensive IQ imo and can tend to float invisibly or just drive the net, whether it's the right play or not. I feel comfortable saying he will be a good bottom 6 player with special teams usage. His offensive ceiling worries me. If he had the brain of someone like Kunin or Bellows, who have great off puck hockey sense, he'd be a surefire top 10 beast. He chases plays instead of reading them a bit too much for my taste. Those 1 on 1 rush moves quickly evaporate against NHL d men, except for Andrew MacDonald.

Yeah, I do get that with Jones. With his size, he should thrive in a cycle and be a good net presence. He tends to get to wandering at times.

Gauthier, he scores, but he seems to do most of it just because he's big and goes to the net. I'd rather go after a guy like Tufte if that's what he does.

I've also said while I would take Jones at 18 he'd be one I'd rather hope I could get later in round 1.

If it's Jones and Bean or Chychrun, I lean to Jones. I'm not sure Bean or Chychrun would be better than 3 or 4 in the prospect pool on D, while Jones would be 2 or 3 among forwards.

I wouldn't be angry if they went the other way, but like you there's others I prefer

Pretty much, he's on my list because he does have skill........how much of it will translate to the NHL & can he continue to improve........who knows

That would be a weird draft if both Chychrun and Bean are there. That would actually be #notgood for us. Probably go Bean there personally. He seems like someone Detroit and a few others would probably love though, and I will believe Chychrun is there when I see it haha.

As far as I'm concerned, the more of Bean, Gauthier, Jones, McAvoy, McLeod, Fabbro are gone, the better for our draft choices. If not....things get dicey and into trade up/down territory.

Yeah, the thing is, I'm sure if all three of those guys are there, at least one of Kunin, Rubtsov, Abramov or Asplund should be as well. In that case, I'd strongly consider one of them. I think guys like McLeod, Howden & Bellows go before all of those other 4 do.

1. Your d pairings are wrong
2. 4th line is the same...that cannot happen
3. Laughton and Cuz are nowhere to be found in lineup
4. Konecny isn't a center
5. I give up

- Mononoke

Laughton and Cousins...I couldn't be less enthusiastic about to young forwards coming out of our pipeline.
