He's a good player, not great, in a weak UFA crop (sans the Stamkos saga) and is being ridiculously over-hyped. He'll get overpaid, and I just hope it's not the Flyers who make the payment.

I just cant get that excited, the way they write the poop it seems like every kid is the second coming of Gretzky. Far too much hype. Again though, interesting.

They're all the second coming of Gretzky, except they're not big enough, or don't have a high enough hockey IQ, or have skating issues, or can't play away from the puck, or take bad penalties, or can't create their own offense, or have some other flaw.

At the spot the Flyers are in, the player they take is going to likely have 2-3 knocks on his game, and the Flyers are going to more or less hope that they can improve/work around them over time. Drafting in the back half of the first round is generally like being dealt a 12 in black jack. You're taking the hit, but every now and then, you're gonna bust.
