Seems like you guys would rather spend all day trying to prove each other wrong than talk about hockey. Who cares about insurance? Holy crap. |

Alright guys, who's a law talking guy?
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en...12/NHL_NHLPA_2013_CBA.pdf - TheMussel
I don’t see anything in there remotely close to what he is talking about.
The league negotiates and maintains an ‘Injury Insurance’ policy that insurances franchises against losses from long-term injuries. Those loses are 80% covered by the insurer and 20% covered by the team. This is not part of the CBA.
The CBA allows for cap relief for long-term injuries, LTIR as we commonly know it. I don’t see any exclusions based on when the injury occurs and a players’ contract status.
Funny, you would think after 11 salary cap seasons that there would be one example of a team getting hooped by this supposed clause. |

THe order doesn't matter. The poster said that uninsured contract cannot be put on ltir. The fact that Horton has an uninsured contract and has been on ltir is proof the poster is full of it. - burn
The order of getting insurance and getting injured does....that's all I'm saying.
You're right that the LTIR point he made is wrong but I have a feeling there might be additional LTIR stipulations like if you sign a player knowing he has an existing injury?? Maybe that's what he was trying to convey.
Don't really care about the BURN/KG skirmish either way but I think if CBJ signed Horton thinking he would recover from his shoulder issue and the shoulder issue kept him out of the line up....there might be a LTIR issue...meaning Columbus couldn't use LTIR.
Like I said, I don't have all the info, this sh1t is for lawyers. |

You can't ltir uninsured contracts.
And this guy is saying people need to read the cba.
Anyone left still defending this guy? Every time he's on here he's making poop up. |

I pretty sure it means...it can be Cap LTIR relief but not actual $$$ relief.
Some would rather just argue all day.

I hope so. I'm so happy about Matthews that I don't feel the need to argue with anybody anymore. I've been in a Zen state since the lottery win. |

Really? I've never been so afraid of the future as a Leafs fan... at least considering the way other people talk about them. |

Yes. Order matters for insurance.
I think clb made a calculated gamble that didn't pay off. They wanted to sign Horton, but couldn't insure because he was still rehabbing the injury at the time. So do we sign him and gamble with insurance or do we gamble that we can still sign him when he's healthy (does he sign with someone else before he gets healthy and we miss out?)
