That's good. I was done arguing with you a long time ago when I proved you wrong on uninsured ltir.
I see that you've gone traditional hb route and posted links that don't support your stance and have no evidence to prove your stance and still told people they're wrong and should go read the cba. if nothing else you're entertaining.
Uninsured contracts can't be ltir'd........ And yet you keep coming back. - burn

Stamkos coming to Toronto will be the talk of July #bookit - Lucas.Neilson
If Stamkos signs in Toronto, let me sum up July for you...
He is injured, his career is over.
He only scored goals in Tampa because of St. Louis.
They repeated the Kessel mistake.
They won't be able to afford their young talent.
He wont be able to perform in this media circus.
Matthews won't like being second fiddle.
They should have drafted Laine.
etc. etc.. |

Alright – I think I figured this out. KG was misusing the term insurance, I think.
So, within players’ contracts, a clause exists that allows teams to stop paying a player if they get injured outside of hockey…e.g. on their personal time.
It’s not really clear, but I think for Horton a team could try to claim Horton’s condition didn’t exist at the time of the contract signing and was not a result of hockey. In theory, they can just stop paying him. Full cap relief would follow. Why haven’t the leafs done this? Douche-bag move to pull on someone with a medical condition? Sets a bad example for other free agents? Idk, but maybe the leafs try to do this whenr most of the contract has been paid out to Horton.
So, I think what KG is trying to say in his own special way: even though this is a non-hockey injury, because the blood clot issue is known, the leafs couldn’t do this to Stamkos, i.e. just stop paying him if the blood clot issue resurfaces.
They can always throw him on LTIR for the duration of the contract and get relief that way. |

I don't know this at all. But one would think that those clauses would be for injuries incured while doing activities not related to hockey. Like for instance, breaking a leg in a skiing accident or something. But wouldn't or shouldn't include unforseen illnesses or diseases. Really not sure if what I'm saying has any basis in reality. But seems wienerish to be like "sorry you got cancer, but you didn't get that while playing hockey, so tough titties".

Agreed.
Again, the wording I saw didn’t specify. But sure seems like a douchey thing to do a player with a medical condition. |

I wouldn’t mind him…at the right price.
I think he’ll get overpaid. Better someone else to do that.

How would the leafs do that to Horton though? How is it not a hockey injury.
And that's not what kg said at all.

The insurance has everything to do with the money Columbus couldn't afford as a club to pay Horton for not playing had he been insured they would not have traded for clarkson |
