Pujajvi is going to be good.
He isn't going to be Mathews or even Laine good though.
Sure we expect him to be better than who we draft at 8 but you're giving up picks in the future (2017) draft which will be needed to rebuild the prospect pool as well.
3 picks to move up 5 spots for a player that wont be in North America this year...
Too rich for my blood. - Stripes77
Jesse P might even go 2nd overall, Laine to Winnipeg isn't set in stone yet |

When Stephen A Smith says people should have to do something of quality before they are celebrated or become celebrities, I shake my head and wonder if he's ever walked past a parked car. It's self evident that he has never looked in the mirror, if he's going off on that riff, but I would think he would have a chance to catch his reflection in the parked cars Windows .... |

I could very well be wrong, it's definitely my own opinion. Before the season, the talks were either Mathews or Jesse Puljujarvi as the first pick. As the season progressed, Laine joined them for the discussion, and just don't see what Mathews has shown, or what Puljujarvi hasn't shown to create this separation. I can see what Laine did to join the up there, but can't see what would have cause such a separation between Mathews and Puljujarvi, if that makes any sense. - Mentalorgasm5
I cant speak to the 2nd half of the season but right up until and including what i saw of the WJ's i like Puljujarvi over Laine. Im not saying that he's definitely better or is going to have a better career but I think its much closer than we are being led to believe and assuming the price wasn't too much of an overpayment id seriously consider it. |

I have a gut feeling it's Cam Fowler. Tim Murray is only aware of about 5% of the NHL players. Most of them have associations with former teams of his so....
We heavily scouted Anaheim near the deadline. - sbroads24

I think a more likely scenario is Columbus would move from 3 to 2. If the Jets prefer Jesse Puljujarvi, and the blue jackets don't want Puljujarvi, seems like a good trade for the Jets. Move down a spot, gain some assets, and still get the guy you want. |

Jesse P is better two way player, better playmaker, and scored almost as much as Laine did. Out scored him at the WJC and almost every goal Laine scored for Finland came directly from JP. Yes Laine is the more flashier offensively with his shot but that's really all he has that's better then JP |

I would say John Butler is second after Polian.
And Murray still has not accomplished anything yet. Heck, even Darcy has accomplished more than Murray so far. |

I disagree. He orchestrated their tank that got eichel, got O'Reilly for a reasonable price, saw the sabres improve by 27 points despite a lot of injuries. The jury is still out in Kane/Bogo trade and the lehner trade + we'll see what this offseason brings, but to say he's done nothing is a stretch |

To add to this, he's doing exactly what he said he was going to do when he took the job.
People may not like it, but he pretty much said he was going to do it.

Your forgot to mention his best move...getting rid of Nolan. lol
I have liked his moves so far, and I have nothing to complain about, yet. And the improved record is great. I guess I just disagreed with the assumption that he is the second best GM this city has ever seen. Hopefully that changes.
But if he over pays for Okposo after Stamkos does not come here or gives up too many assets in a trade again, I may change my mind about him being a good GM. They need to make the playoffs this year. |

If he over pays for FA's and gives up a lot of prospects and picks in trades that seem to be for a "win now" attitude, I will question if his orders are coming from ownership. |
