We have tonnes of things to offer right now. 8th, Pysyk, Franson, Gorges, Fasching, Baptiste, Bailey, Nelson, Ruhwedel, Ennis, Moulson (doubt it), Foligno, Girgensons, Bogosian, tonnes of other picks + future first rounders. Plus take on a contract they don't want or need like Fayne.
- Jammerz04

Another team would offer more for Taylor Hall. Pysyk and Cody Franson aren't the type of pieces that would get it done

They need defense. We do as well, but not as badly.

They are loaded at top 6,and we need a sniper.

I just don't know that dangling Pysyk, Franson, or Ruhwedel even starts the conversation, and I'm not sure that Bogosian or Nelson gets it done.

Some sites indicate bogosian has a full NTC.
Seems like Nelson was a pretty hot commodity when we signed him last year, and his play has been quite good.

Can 8, Nelson, and 2017 first get Hall?

Edmonton really doesn't need picks, but I'd bet they'd take 1st rounders. They want top 4 defensemen. Bogo (maybe) Pysyk (maybe because of the Edmonton connection) Georges (NO), Franson (NO), Moulson (big NO), Girgensons or Foligno (maybe but it's going to take a lot more) Ennis (also has the Edmonton connection, so maybe)

Love Shattenkirk, but you can't trade #8 for him unless you have a trade in place for Bog. No room for Risto, Bogo and Shattenkirk on the right side unless one of them can play on the left??

Proud to say, I've secured draft tickets for my Sons (14 and 12) and myself and we'll be coming in from CT for both draft days. This is where I need your help. We're staying in the Hamptons Inn in Williamsville (downtown hotels were sold out, of course). Can I get recommendations for a great wings place near Williamsville for LUNCH on Friday and a cool place for dinner after the draft on Saturday? I grew up in Lakeview (Franny Grad followed by UB Grad) so know the area. I know Chef's and all of the restaurants in the south towns. Thanks ahead of time!!

I'm a Timon guy, but I'll try to help you anyways! If I were you I would take a ride into South Buffalo and hit Doc Sullivan's for wings Friday pre-draft. Less than 10 minutes from the arena. Get them "Smitty's Style". You won't regret it! On Abbott Rd. near Mercy Hospital.

A trade for Taylor Hall involves Ristolainen. Which it wouldn't shock me if Murray did, considering he didn't draft Ristolainen and he didn't come from Anaheim or Ottawa

We trade Risto and we'll have virtually no defense. It would take 4-5 seasons for draft picks to develop if we have any that truly can, and we'll have very little assets left to trade for NHL defensemen. Throwing boat-loads of cash at UFAs would be the only way we save this rebuild. Trading Risto would be disastrous.

Hall has a good contract, is young, and is one of the probably best 5 LW in the game. It would take a franchise caliber player going back

Agreed. I don't think we have what it would require to get him. Risto is a very BIG NO for me.

He's not moving Risto, I mentioned a while back that they liked Hall as a fall back to Stamkos. Risto is a non starter. doesn't make sense anyway for the Oilers to move Hall unless they get a number 1 D man back, that's what they have wanted all along.

1 player does not set the market in arbitration.

In fact in most cases the highest and lowest numbers are usually thrown out.

- Stripes77

Yeah, like I when I used the plural version of all the words. Like comparables, and comps. But not everyone goes to arbitration, and players/agents use that one contract and maybe they get an extra 2% or 3% on this contract, but if everyone does that lifts the comps, and all it takes is one or 2 guys to get overpaid and you have inflation of all the contracts. The cap(usually) goes up, but you're still only allowed the same amount of players. There's always salary inflation this FG just sped it up a little bit.

Yes, I used them both.

No but in arbitration they use comparables and the higher the comps the higher the number they come back with for the player.

Imagine the return that #4 and Hall would bring from another team. Risto would be the only option those assets. I'm not interested despite the fact that I think we would be getting not one, but two elite players back in return. However, our defense would be the detriment of our forwards for years. If we had 2-3 stud defenseman coming up, maybe, but that's simply not the case. Bogo, #8, Girgs, Foligno, Pysyk and #38 doesn't get that done.

I thought it was short for compensations.
