Imagine the return that #4 and Hall would bring from another team. Risto would be the only option those assets. I'm not interested despite the fact that I think we would be getting not one, but two elite players back in return. However, our defense would be the detriment of our forwards for years. If we had 2-3 stud defenseman coming up, maybe, but that's simply not the case. Bogo, #8, Girgs, Foligno, Pysyk and #38 doesn't get that done.

That would have been my guess, comparables and compensation.
With that said, i dont know much about Czikas besides what i just looked up.
3 years older than Girgensons and about another full season under his belt.
Not great numbers at all.
If Girgensons is pushing for 4, do you start to think about Jamie McGinn again for a little bit more?
I mean, thats a guy you know can slot in to the top 6 and pot 20 if need be.
If people were shying away from that for between 4.5-5m, Girgensons has no business asking for 4.

Trading him takes the franchise a huge step backwards. A #1 defenseman is too tough to acquire. I think Edmonton will have a brutal time acquiring one, as teams don't just give them up. It will take at LEAST Hall to get a legit kingpin at that position.

I think risto only comes into play re: Hall. Historically it wouldn't take anywhere near that much to move from 8 to 4, according to those value charts.

This would be an absolutely insane overpayment. Risto is on a development pace to be top 10 in this league maybe as early as this season. He could be considered franchise real soon. Tkachuk is not Gretzky or even McDavid, let Edmonton have him we'll do just fine with Nylander or Keller, or one of the 3 defensemen.

Risto will be just fine, he's still only 21 and his growth has been tremendous. He's developing a nasty side and has been asked to take on a lot of minutes sooner than someone of his age should. I would bet by the end of this upcoming season he's considered franchise. Too many people here want to through players in the trash can because they have one bad season or dip a bit in their development. Not saying you feel this way, and I'm seriously not trying to be a homer, but if Edmonton even utters Risto's name I home Murray immediately hangs up.

He's a more developed player than a pick is.
#4 is nice, but i dont think we have the assets to land it or the time to watch the player develop if for some reason he isnt NHL ready.
And i understand Tkchuck probably will be, but risto already is.
Let someone else overpay.
If edmonton wants a true top pairing defenceman, we simply dont have/arent willing to trade it.

So more to the rumor is Edmonton likes Samson, which makes sense, I've heard him and McDavid are good friends.

So the question would be, would you move him (Samson), 8th, most likely Pksyk and Girgenson's (and maybe another pick) for Hall and 4th overall?
