I don't understand what Bylsma has against letting Lioneater just play his game...He's shown he can put up points..and that was on a team that was absolute garbage
- feetontheair22

Coaches coach the system they want their players to use. The coach thinks its the best way for his team to succeed.

Players are supposed to do what the coaches say.

It's that simple.

One player that can't play his system doesn't mean the coach is wrong it means that player probably shouldn't be on that coaches team.

Im not saying its easy either, but the fact that they're not looking into it or trying to find a dance partner is concerning. The moves they've made basically line this team up for a potential run in 17-18, there's a very good chance the player we pick at 8 wont even be in the NHL. Even worse than that, Im not convinced anyone available at 8 will ever be better than one of the names that are out there (i.e shattenkirk).
- Sabresfan-365

And I dont think we have a bigger need than a player such as Shattenkirk.

I think we had this disagreement before...

Idk...my point is I don't want to give up on a guy like Girgs who has so much potential and is only 22

My opinion comes from homie where he said the eighth overall pick is not going to be traded for a player only going to be used to move up

That just tells me maybe the owner cares more about making the fans happy at the draft then trading away the pick for a player.

that's the way I see it

- GERBE!!!75PTS

my thought is they feel the pick is worth more using than what they feel they can get for it in a trade...

Out here in California, most of the people were raised at a different "comfort level" then i was used to in Buffalo. I wasnt even poor, i just took out student loans for school, worked part time when i was in school, worked full time over the summer, paid my own car insurance, etc.
I just find that people who not only grew up with no needs, but not even wants, have no concept about how other people live, but are also detached from reality, usually tend to be inconsiderate, oblivious to their surroundings, etc. and its mostly because money will get them out of most problems.
I'd just hate to see a kid from Buffalo who's a fan of the Sabres turn out like a lot of the people in California.

I agree, unless you've got another deal lined up that doesnt include that pick for a d-man that can fill that role (so a total ripping off of another team) I don't see why you wouldn't at the very least explore all your options.

I think you might be right.

I don't think moving him is a signal that you're giving up on him though.

I think its a signal saying there is a better fit for the team you are building.

Girgensons IMO has turned into the hockey version of Kiko Alonso.

Strong out of the gate and built up this internet cult following.

Both are nice players, both aren't going to be nearly as good as the hype around them.

I still believe they could still package the eighth overall pick plus players to get a NHL player . To add to the point The player that they take with the pick he might be three years away to a player that is in the NHL aleady

Bet your the one that holds up the drive through line for 15min deciding what to order. and everything is special.

I will never go to the drive through with my girl and her daughter. There is a reason it's called FAST FOOD.

I think this could be the biggest reason why they would move him.

Not sure where he fits in with your team.

I want better for a top 6 forward.

If he is your 3rd line center I don't want him making $3 million a year right now though

I think most fans would like to hear. "There has been a trade. The Buffalo Sabres trade pick 8 (insert more if needed) to the St. Louis Blues for Kevin Shattenkirk."
- Mentalorgasm5

Love Shattenkirk, but you can't trade #8 for him unless you have a trade in place for Bog. No room for Risto, Bogo and Shattenkirk on the right side unless one of them can play on the left??

Proud to say, I've secured draft tickets for my Sons (14 and 12) and myself and we'll be coming in from CT for both draft days. This is where I need your help. We're staying in the Hamptons Inn in Williamsville (downtown hotels were sold out, of course). Can I get recommendations for a great wings place near Williamsville for LUNCH on Friday and a cool place for dinner after the draft on Saturday? I grew up in Lakeview (Franny Grad followed by UB Grad) so know the area. I know Chef's and all of the restaurants in the south towns. Thanks ahead of time!!

I know Shattenkirk is a RHD, but trade for him, sign, if at all possible, Yandle, and trade away Franson for whatever.

Yandle Ristolainen
McCabe Shattenkirk
Gorges Bogosian

I think that defensive group would get us into the playoffs.

he would have to be 3rd line.. he isn't good enough for top 6 even on the wing. If you can get him for less than 3 mil sure but then you got to do something with Larrson
