Not really, they went to arbitration, the arbitrator looked at the market and set his number. The Sabres didn't like the number so they walked, as is their right. - Wetbandit1
As someone who knows the details what you said isn't incorrect but how it went down is exactly how his agent screwed him.
Sabres offered $725,000 he was gonna take it. His agent urged him to go to arbitration.
Trade Markus pay Girgs for the potential - ship him at TDL if he keeps it up - Der Kaiser
I'd trade both Marcus and Girgs. But that Larsson, Gionta and Foligno line was pretty damn solid. I'd want that as my third line next season.
With Larsson's emergence Girgs becomes expendable. Girgs should be part of a bigger trade that nets us a winger for Eichel or a top LHD or part of a trade to help us move up. Girgs does not fit Bylsma's system. Trading of Girgs gets what we need through trade and will cost us less cap wise in the future.
But what do we have that could possibly be going the other way that Edmonton would want? And the obvious players are off the table. - sskkoo1
We have tonnes of things to offer right now. 8th, Pysyk, Franson, Gorges, Fasching, Baptiste, Bailey, Nelson, Ruhwedel, Ennis, Moulson (doubt it), Foligno, Girgensons, Bogosian, tonnes of other picks + future first rounders. Plus take on a contract they don't want or need like Fayne.
