Now...move CC and they have 11million in space
.....for Malkin - PatShart
I seriously don't understand that.
There is no comprehensible package the hawks could send and get malkin back and be competitive.... |

Boyle is usually pretty smart off camera and I give him kudos that he gets it most of the time when he isnt pandering to the CSN cameras. He is pretty spot on here.
Pat Boyle @CSNBoyle 1m1 minute ago
Teuvo wasn't going to play on 2nd line.. Didn't work on Toews line.. Only way to get portion of Bickell's $ off books was to include Teuvo
TT playing 3rd line in Chicago wasnt exactly blowing the other teams doors off |

Kudos to Bowman for getting the return that he did. Never thought that was possible.
Bickell is a collosal blunder and a major learning lesson for the organization to not reward based on playoffs alone AND to not have a suitable replacement in house.
Teuvo...just never could take advantage of the chances he was given in top 9, and obvious Hawks didn't see him as a center and Teuvo needs help to produce, not other way around. So that sealed his fate. he wont' haunt them long term.
Now the question is, outside of extending Panarin do they resign Shaw OR pursue top 6 lw to skate with 19 OR another D man, assuming they dont' dump more money.
I still don't see how Malkin works unless a huge salaried piece goes back to Pittsburgh. Pittsburhg isn't moving him for free, if it all....and until a major publication or insider says he's moving.........don't caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare what Eklund says in my best Jay voice possible. |

The 43rd overall ...
as good a chance as getting a good developmental player from 25-60 - wiz1901
Same pick Saad fell to them in years past if I remember correctly 👍 |

And rest assured any big salary on our side would not be Crawford. PIT wants to lose MAF and they have two young bucks in the pipeline. |

I'll also add this....it's time for Marcus Kruger to offer more offensively. Have to assume he's the 3c as of today, and he can't go 50 gmaes w/o a goal. I know he kills Penalties, tough to play against, but any hope of another run relies on depth scoring and this guy has to do it.
So tired of hearing about his skill, well....it's time to show it. Give this team 10-15 goals or we start to be haunted by this heavy 1 trick pony. |

Can somebody provide options on Scuds remaining deal...
If he retires do we get another ~1MM in cap space, can we buy him out...etc...
Just moving on to the last bad contract we have to deal with... - Beaks99
Very unlikely Scuds retires. He's owed 2.5 million in salary and probably his last payday since he's done.
Almost positive we can't buy him out because his salary is spread out between Pitt, Chi, and L.A.
Cap hit for each team is 1.125 mil. |

agreed 110% so it's not happening.
There is pipe dreams and then there is Malkin.
Unless a core guy, say 2 or7 or 81 asked to be dealt, it's nothappenign.
Just a stupid ploy to get page views.....as usual. |

100% agree
But I also dont see any way Nielsen gets close to $6 mil
Hes a 32 year old center. I think he is looking around 3 years, $4.5-$5 mil per - hawkeytalkman
You're probably right about Nielsen. Okposo though is a dangerous one. His numbers, for playing with Tavares, are not that impressive considering what Moulson was able to do that role. It says something when Islanders fans can't wait for Okposo to be off the team, too. |

He was "talented" enough but his production with top 6 was not good and he wasn't good enough defensively to be a true bottom 6 guy. There truly wasn't a good fit for him on this team.
Honestly...for stretches Richard Panik fulfilled a top 6 role better than TT ever did. - hawks1921
Yet TT is several years younger and has been more productive in his brief NHL career than the anointed one, Panik |

I watched a lot of games where Okposo single handedly kill offensive zone possession for his line while Tavares did his best to get it back
I can see what the Islanders fans mean |

Really sad this had to happen cause there is still a lot potential in TT but maybe Canes is better place to him. He can united there with Finnish players Sebastian Aho and Aleksi Saarela. - MjulQvist
What is sad is the draft is 18 year olds and so many guys like TT just don't put it together quick enough to warrant that fat re-up.
I guess this clears Panarin and Shaw's contrcat issues - their roles are already well-defined on the team, where TT was still in the abyss in regards to solidifying a position, and actually fill the net regular instead of being a set up guy.
That Cap is the nature of the game...

How quickly TT's star has fallen. Stan should have made that rumored deal for JD last season, but oh well. Never a big fan of him, and helped get money off the books to keep Shaw.
I still expect TT to go back to the SEL within 3 years. He's a boy in a man's league. Good instincts, but after a certain point, he's gonna be done with getting wrecked every night. Didn't really make enough improvement to warrant dealing someone else. |

By the way, a very good deal for Carolina...they have a ton of picks in the first 3 rounds and trade a way a 2nd for TT....

Stan pulls the trigger on the first big trade this offseason while his poppa Scotty is in church for Mr Hockey's service-- has a Godfather feel to it!
Got the news while watching the Gordie Howe service -- immediately thought of Godfather scene-- when all debts are paid-- - jb3333
I read your post and a few others. Then I try to go back and get some work done. But I can't get rid of the priest and the Latin/Italian prayers that were being said while guys were getting shot in bed, turnstyle doors, and on a cot in the eye. Thanks. |

EXACTLY--- and while TT has great vision-- skill and versatility-- I won't miss his alligator arms when going onto the corners--
I would say that the Hawks managed the asset in TT well-- pumping his tires so they could see if he was a fit while developing -- they gave him every chance--
while on the reverse SB really blundered on the Bickell deal (in hindsight) |

I would´ve liked to see #86 in Hawks jersey. Many assumes that he can´t develop anymore but I´m afraid he will prove them wrong.

Kruger has a career high of 28 points. He also scored 26 points in 71 games in 2011-2012. If he can duplicate those performances and be an effective shut-down center and penalty killer, I think he will be worth it. Also, there is always the opportunity to reunite him with Hossa. That could mean good things for both their respective point totals, counter-attacking other teams' top lines and increasing Chicago's goal differential.

Naming all of the positions he could or did play means he didn't have a place on the team. He chipped in occasionally but I'm not crying he's gone. 2nd and 3rd is probably under market value for him but getting rid of Bickell's deal is huge - hawks1921
I don't think anyone can deny that TT is a very talented player. That said, I think part of his problem on the Hawks (at least in Q's eyes) is the way he plays. How many time after a game do we hear Q talk about "directness", or needing to be more direct? TT has great hands and is actually really good defensively, but he gets pushed outside much too easily. He had a few games where he was getting in the slot and he scored some nice goals, then he went back to drifting and hoping for a difficult pass.
I am not saying that this is the only reason why (and I'm not even sure that I really agree with it), but I think the Hawks are going to be looking at slightly larger and more north/south skaters going forward. |

You cannot buy out a player who is playing for a different team, even if you are paying part of his retained salary.

Yeah-- memorable scene-- stuck in my head too--
I'm watching the Gordie memorial mass on the-- when I heard about the trade-- knowing Scotty is at the service--
IMO -- The marketing heads in the FO purposely released this information when the entire hockey world is focusing on something else in the Mr Hockey Memorial service--

Agreed, and a 14-16-81 3rd line isn't bad......assuming you have guys to skate with 19.
Has anyone checked to see if they took all sharp objects away from the folks over at 2nd city hockey.....they may need a counseling session after that trade. ..... |

Teuvo Teravainen has never spent a millisecond of his life in the SEL (or the SHL as it is now known). |
