IMO the habs aren't in a situation where they have to do anything ...they get price back ...galchenyuk was looking like a 1C with patches by the end of the year ...I say go into the season hoping he continues ...as for subban depending on the trade I might do it - Redmile247
Coming from a fan of the Flames that means nothing. I have about 13 coworkers who are habs fans as well as my dad(grew up there) who is a habs fan. They would literally storm the castle if Subban was traded and a Doughty type player wasn't coming back. |

I said depending on the trade ...if it's an overpay than deal him if it's not don't ...also if I have a doughty type why am I downgrading to a subban ?? |

Exactly. MTL can't be trading Subban unless they are upgrading him. Though getting rid of that 9mil may be worth it. |

Is there a deal with edm that you would do if your Mtl ? |

Expansion draft.
Teams have to expose 2 forward and 1 Dman.
The player has had to play 40 games this year or 70 over the last two years.
Players with NMC and NTC are counted as protected players.
This means Sbisa needs to play needs to play 30 games this year , Dorsett. Played 71 last year, Granlund played 43 last year. I imagine they are your three you put up. |

#9 #39 3rd rounder and Juulsen for #4. That is what it would take, and even then they make say Beaulieu over Juulsen. MTL then waits to see if Dubois is at #5 and if he is calls JB and makes the offer. People really underestimate this years draft. 1/2 are in a league of their own. 3/4 are in a league of their own. 5 is by himself, pretty close to 3/4(may even be 3/4/5 on the same cliff atm) and then there is a drop from 6-10 or 12. Years later things may be different than what they seem today. But this is what I have read of this years draft. it was 1-3 and 4/5 before, but JP seems to have fallen a bit. |

It's funny guys think Subban is so good. He is way too fancy and turns the puck over all the time. They need a better defence and no I don't think trading him is the answer but he's really not great defensively. He's a showboat and he gets burned on it more often than not. |

in all honesty, Package Vey and Granlund together would get what for draft picks? |

Please provide a source. I just read a confirmed article that NMC are the only forced protection. NTC state in the CBA that it only protects against trades.

And I thought it was also agreed that it was 7 F, 3 D, and 1 goalie OR 8 skaters at any position and 1 goalie. |

I was talking a subban deal with edm
I don't see the oil trading that pic for parts or prospects ...that pic is either part of a blockbuster or they draft someone at the pick |

I like subban ...he's a good player ...good for the league too ...but I do t see him as a top d man and I don't care how many Norris trophies he wins or is nominated for ...if he can clean up the errors and just simplify his game a little than I might change my tune ...he's just too risky right now
That contract is bad too ... |

Unfortunately you're correct there is a fine line of errors per offence on the defence. He continues to make bad choices and it gets him caught. Simplify is correct. |

Or he can go fancier and hope to make less mistakes |

To me it seems like he hasn't figured out the right time to take the risks ..he has all the skill and size to be the best d man ...look at a guy like doughty ..he takes risks but picks his spots a bit better ...if PK could pull back his offence a little more and focus on D he might be one that player ...but who knows maybe it's just not in his makeup to not go full out all the time and you just have to take the good with the bad |

That is incredibly odd because I will look for another article about how NMC that turn into a NTC (IE. Dan Giradi) by July 2017 wouldn't have to be protected either. Stand by while I dig.
EDIT I reread the portion with MAF and think his situation is unique and it doesn't necessarily apply to NTC by themselves but ones that involve NMC in some way. I will keep digging and get to the bottom of this madness! |

As I suspected.
MAF NMC with Modied NTC
Clauses
Limited NMC (starting July 1, 2010, only prevents being placed on waivers); Limited NTC (can designate a list of teams he will accept a trade to)

CapGeek
I think this shows that this is a unique situation and doesn't apply to ALL NTC rather a contract as such that is a partial NMC. |

When a DMAN can consistently give you close to 50 pts per season you find a way to deal with his shortcomings. |

I agree but what happens when the best part of their defense goes down? (Price)
They need to be better defensively. I don't think trading him is the answer but they need a more responsible defensemble as a whole. They proved they couldn't even outscore their opponents.
Best start in history is foiled by losing one guy? Seems a bit crazy to me. The team needs to be more accountable. |
