yeah, he was a tough one...started coming on in Rochester...wouldn't be opposed to that, however, he really didn't do much in buffalo during his stint

Tim Murray should trade for the fourth overall if that includes Jake McCabe that's a loss but you can replace him

To get a potential superstar in Jesse for Jack to be with is worth it in my opinion

It would ease the blow if we miss out on Stamkos then we can focus on defense on free-agent day

I never understood bringing up a kid with speed and using him on the 4th line

The style he plays, would at the very least warrant being on third line or maybe second line

Schaller or COR should be the call ups if intention is for the 4th line

Does this gaff fall on the gm or coach?

two things:

--edm won't trade the fourth-overall unless it's for a huge return and McCabe shouldn't be considered huge like, say, Ristolainen or reinhart are

--the free agent list for defensemen is pretty weak and the ones worth grabbing (Campbell and boyle) probably aren't moving

other than that, I like your premise

don't know if it's a gaffe...happens all the time...gotta remember catenacci spent three full seasons in Rochester and never cracked 30 points in a season

No, let's give Catenacci a crack in the top-6 but let's trade/give away the former 1st-rounder who nabs .35 ppg in the NHL even after having the pooptiest year ever and is still young and developing.

These guys are all American Leaguers. I can barely keep up with the Nationals.

El Paso on all of them.

And we can not take the risk of selling McCabe for 4 if the plan is to get Puljajarvi. He most likely won't be there. Gerbe needs to stop putting so much faith in potential, and trading to four is trading known skill for the potential of potential.

with Columbus not liking him at all and they have their sights set on Logan brown I think it's possible we can get Jessie now .

now let's say if we did trade for the fourth overall pick and Columbus doesn't trade their pick because the price is too high there could be a chance that we could land Jesse or there could be a chance that we get screwed but we still get TK it would be a step down yes

They aren't taking him at 3.

That would be a waste and a real reach.

They could move back to 7-10 and still get him.

Pure rumors of them taking brown at #3. Would be stupid as they could trade down a few spots, get a kings ransom for it and take brown at 6, 7 or 8. Makes.no sense otherwise

they put themselves in a corner here because if they set the price too high teams are going to trade up and like you said you're not going to risk losing him

It's a fun situation to look at

You say they could get kings ransom but what happens if the team doesn't want to make that trade then they're stuck in a corner they have no power whatsoever right now because if they move back to much brown can be gone so there's only a certain number teams they could trade with

Like giving Cat one more year, he seems like he's on the verge of getting it, at the very least if he has a decent season he could turn into a throw-in trade piece by the trade deadline.

They aren't picking Brown at 3 regardless.

It's a huge reach and would be a pick that sets them back.

He compares out to Brian Boyle IMO.

DD are you kidding me you just compare Logan Brown to Brian Boyle ?
Come on bro

It is a huge reach but if they don't find a taker they're going to have to take him or they're going to have to take the pooptiest trade possible they put themselves in the corner they only have a certain amount of teams that they could trade with to get him

Trade up if it doesnt cost you key nhl players. Otherwise should be looking for someone in the nhl right now. Can't pull off two huge trades and two tank years just to bank your future on the third best defensemen available in a draft where there are no d-man who blow you away.
