Safest bet

Still a very good one to be had at #8. Don't need to be getting all crazy trading McCabe, ect just to move up a few spots.

They aren't picking Brown at 3 regardless.

It's a huge reach and would be a pick that sets them back.

He compares out to Brian Boyle IMO.

- dadeadhead

It's a reach at 3...but comparing him to brian boyle right now is a bigger reach. He may never reach his potential but his ceiling is significantly higher than that.

With Columbus taking Logan brown anything is possible now
- GERBE!!!75PTS

If Columbus takes Logan Brown, that means they traded down and another team is selecting Jesse Puljujarvi at 3.

DD are you kidding me you just compare Logan Brown to Brian Boyle ?
Come on bro

It is a huge reach but if they don't find a taker they're going to have to take him or they're going to have to take the pooptiest trade possible they put themselves in the corner they only have a certain amount of teams that they could trade with to get him

- GERBE!!!75PTS

You were what 8 or 9 when Boyle was drafted?

Similar skill set at the time of being drafted.

Boyle was a selected in the 1st rd.

All this bluster about trading skilled NHL roster players to move up a few spots could have all been avoided by not winning those damn meaningless games at the end of the season.

Thats what some don't understand about the draft, not everyone turns into Ryan Getzlaf. Most turn into Brian Boyle, including those highly praised 1st rounders.

They have nothing in common besides being tall

This is just like your comparison with Cam Newton to JaMarcus Russell

It's a head scratcher

I completely understand that but they have to have a list of teams that they're willing to trade with so they can't lose that certain player correct ?

So let's say if the price is too high and all those teams wait till draft and wait for the price to go down some of those lists of teams they had might not be interested anymore it's a fun situation to look at it and I think we should be involved

Boyle was compared to Keith Primeau

The scouting reports on Brown without saying the name sound very similar to Keith Primeau.

The pick is Jesse at 3.

They either trade out which is plausible.

or

They stand pat and select Jesse which is just as if not more plausible.

No, they'll simply lower their asking price and move back. Taking Brown at 7 and gaining only a 2nd round pick, is better than just taking Brown at 3.

Its still weeks before the draft, if they are looking to move back, it makes all the sense in the world to have a high asking price. It doesn't get traded until they are on the draft floor.

Brian Boyle was drafted in what 2002 ? Logan Brown has nothing in common with him besides being tall you could say he could end up like Nick bjugstad

Columbus blue jackets don't want Jesse they want a center it could be a massive smokescreen but why would they bring in Logan brown for a private workout all day

2003

What I've read on Brown is very similar to Primeau.

Big bodied
Can shield the puck
avg speed but long stride
Good in his own end
Doesn't shy away with the physical stuff

All things that were said in 2003 about Boyle.

Then they'd better trade out because if they pick Brown at 3 its another in a long list of reasons why that organization can't seem to get out of it's own way.

"BTW, you going to See The Claypool and Lennon Delirium on Aug 25th?"

I'll be there. I've only listened to bits and pieces so don't have an honest opinion yet but to see them for free, why not. I don't always like what Les does but have never been disappointed live.

He actually has a lot in common with Boyle in the way they both think and play the game. It's not completely inconceivable he ends up being very similar to Brian Boyle. The only thing that would need to happen would be his offense playing major junior not translating to the pro level, which happens all the time.

And not for nothing, what's wrong if Logan Browns ceiling is an above average bottom-6 center?

that organization has not made one good first round pick besides Rick Nash

And Ryan Johansen but they ran him out of town

Jarmo knows better. Brown isn't a top 10 pick IMO. If he's picked anywhere in the top 10, it'll be in that 8-10 range. I believe that would be a mistake, even that high.

If Columbus likes Brown that much, they should definitely trade down and take whatever a team is willing to overpay them. This is a sub-par draft class overall; definitely more of a "trade down before I'd trade up" type draft.

The organization has been in good hands since Jarmo Kekalainen took over. They have crazy good young talent on the way, two of them being Rychel and Milano who were 1st round picks.

Not to mention Werenski, who will without question be on the Blue Jackets next year.
