My kid is raised how I was and my parents before me and their parents before them.

He holds doors open for people and as much as he's kind of a pain in the ass at home, all I get is complements from the other parents on how well behaved and mannered he is.

I took the different approach. My Dad beat me to a pulp along with my Mom claiming since that's the way he was raised ........ he was passing it down.

I made the conscious decision at age 10 that it would stop here .......... and it did.

My kid gets the same compliments as yours .............. he's now 21. I feel I've succeeded in that sense.

Imagine going to a Toronto Baseball game a couple years ago with your 18 year old kid, 1st time in Toronto, sitting in those field box seats ..... nobody else in the box and in the 3rd inning Phil Kessel and Clark MacArthur walk up and ask if it's OK if they sit next to you. I wasn't even sure who it was at first but after I explained we were out from Calif. to see the Sabres of course Clark was all over it ....... chiming in how he loved Buffalo. Kessel by the way was so damn cool .. even after the autograph lines were formed and stretched from the field all the way up to the mezzanine. We talked about how hard it must be to play in that fishbowl and he acknowledged it was tough ... I looked around and thought .. F-that.

It's easy to shut down a top line, or a couple of players. It's tough to stop 3 lines that are rolling.

That's how the Sabres were successful in Teddy's first stint. Except they never really had a "top" line. They just kept coming at you in waves and you couldn't breathe.

Having Kessel playing on the "third line" is a luxury.

I wanted Kessel so did homie. We were laughed at on here. Speed speed and more speed. The package the Pens gave up for him was a joke. Had the Sabres made that trade they would only be looking for a top 2 D and a top 9 winger that can play top 6 minutes if needed.

Who would you rather have Drew Stafford who, prior to last season signed a 2 year $8.7M deal, or Jamie McGinn at $4.5M for probably 4 years? I'd take McGinn. He doesn't drop off the face of the Earth for 30 games. Stafford is also 3 years older.

Before he was traded McGinn was offered 4 yrs 16 mill and his camp said no. Girgensons at 4 is a bad idea.

According to Ek, Malkin is on the way out. Which I guess means 89 is more likely to be right (though, if they keep MAF, they can expose/possibly lose him in the expansion draft, so who knows).
