That's how the Sabres were successful in Teddy's first stint. Except they never really had a "top" line. They just kept coming at you in waves and you couldn't breathe. - Wetbandit1
They also had the best goaltender on the planet. They should have lost that Ottawa series and we're completely outclassed and out coached in that Philadelphia series. |

So I'll admit...I haven't followed the finals that closely
but all I've been hearing about is the HBK line...did Crosby really deserve the Conn Smythe or was it kind of just the NHL deciding it has to go to Crosby because he's Crosby (no sarcasm...serious question)? - feetontheair22
Stat line for their playoffs:
http://sports.yahoo.com/n.../pit/stats/?season=2015_3
Kessel only had 3 more points than Crosby, Crosby had more of everything but goals shots and points than Kessel (Hits, blocks, GWG 3-0)
I too didn't watch the playoffs, so I thought I'd look it up to compare.
On top of that, I'm sure everyone in the world knows Crosby would be playing much more due to PK time, 1st line, etc, so I'd think it's justified. |

Last night reminded me how much I really hate the NHL sometimes.
The Conn Smythe was a joke and then the Pens managed to also ruin the Cup presentation by allowing MAF to hoist the Cup before Murray.
My disdain for that team just continues to grow. |

I think so. I thought Kessel had a bigger impact on the series. However, the HBK line doesn't have that kind of success if the Crosby and Malkin lines don't draw the better matchups.

According to Ek, Malkin is on the way out. Which I guess means 89 is more likely to be right (though, if they keep MAF, they can expose/possibly lose him in the expansion draft, so who knows). - stashu
They have interest in a couple big names and Malkin is one of them, what he makes and how long is left on the term is a lot. |

They as in Buffalo?
Ugh, I can't imagine what overpayment would be needed that would result in Malkin remaining in the East. |

A lot of the Penguins said it in their postgame, Fleury might have been their best player during the regular season. He kept them in striking distance of the playoffs in the fall and into January/February while they were struggling mightily. |

I found it interesting how quickly he passed the cup off to the next person (I think I only watched the first 5-6 people with it then went to sleep). |

I can't imagine the Sabres have what it takes to keep him in the East, obvious extremes not included. |

He's done that how many other times for them though and then fallen apart in the playoffs?
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to have his name on the Cup or anything, I just think it's ridiculous that he got to hoist the Cup (something he's already done before) before Murray. This series wasn't a huge challenge for Murray in particular, but the Tampa one wasn't exactly easy. If it's not for Murray, I seriously doubt they would have made it to the Finals. |

Some players are simply that well liked. It's no secret the Penguins core, which includes Fleury is a very tight knit group. I don't see the issue with it. Now, had Crosby handed him the Cup second, then there would be an problem to me. |

I'll admit, I've been so crazy busy I didn't get to watch as much as I normally would have. I can't remember though, did Daley get hurt at the beginning of this series or was it during the Tampa series? It's all blurring together.

So, do we have to wait until the draft for any deals or do you think we see some in week leading up to it? I hope it's sooner then later. |

Like I said, I didn't get to watch a ton of it this year, but I still felt Crosby wasn't the right pick. Then when I saw he had 19 points (6g, 13a), I was surprised. I for sure thought he had more than that. SO that just added to my disdain toward him winning the trophy.
poop, Couture would have been a better pick, IMO. |
