just watch this imagine him with Jack those two together speeding down Center ice together ". ...those two could be a magical combination

I get that Bubba I really do. You could also trade or sign "speed players" that would look good with Jack. There are a lot of those types of guys out there. Who knows, Murray might pass on the dmen and draft Keller.

I still think we're picking a dman or trading it.

That is true but you could get a quality defenseman in the second round though
History has shown you can possibly get a franchise defensemen in the second round or a very good defenseman

With our pipeline so dry on wing and we need some speed in this organization He could be our version of Johnny hockey I see no flaws in his game only weaknesses he's small But he has Great puck protection he can't get knocked off the puck easily, hes super fast , he's an absolute sniper ,his hockey sense is Great , and he's great at passing and making plays I think this guy is the total package

I agree - my choice at #8 is Clayton followed by jost followed by Nylander. This team is pretty slow and those 😂would give them some speed in the pipeline. Then spend 3 of the 4 2nd rounders/3rd rounders on dmen and hope for another Guhle.

May I ask why Vatanen? Not questioning the talent, just the handedness.
- RhinoFan

I know rumors have gone around about what the Ducks will do with their RFA's. They need to sign both Vatanen and Lindholm and already have 22% of their cap for next year tied up into their dmen. It is possible they trade one of them this summer. They also have other RFA's they need to sign as well, including Andersen.

Not sure if that answers your question.

How many years is Keller away from playing in the NHL?

Probably a few but so is everyone else who is available at 8. The upside is huge though.

Same, actually.

I'm predicting we sign Yandle too.

Stamkos stays in Tampa.

- CaptainRivet

I think Yandle goes to Boston. Stamkos comes home.

Bruins can't afford Yandle and once again, don't be so sure Stamkos goes to the Leafs.

This is what I keep coming back to. I feel like this team/franchise is entering win-now mode. It's tough to make a high selection and then put it on the shelf for 3 years. I wonder if this type of thinking occurs to Murray re: #8.

Sitting at 8 and picking the LHD is probably the smart thing to do. I guess I'm just hoping that one of those kids can jump to the next level quickly. After all, Guhle was a 2nd rounder and it seemed that he had a chance to play in the NHL in his rookie year.

Bruins have something like 20 mil in cap space this off season. And im not saying its 100% but if he chooses to leave tampa i think he comes home.

Yandle is going to price himself out if he asks for north of 6 a year.

20 mill how, if they keep Ericksson they have no money, Stamkos and the home " thing " is over hyped. If Tampa moves Bishop he goes no place and people shouldn't count out the Sabres regardless what EK is posting.

Guhle looked like he could handle bottom pair minutes, and his competition was terrible. The d-man you take at 8 is someone you in theory hope can be a top pairing guy for you which even if it happens (and theres a real chance it doesnt) you wont find out for at least 2 years.

I mean they literally have 20 mil now. Only notable FA's are Krug and Eriksson. Still gives them a lot of $$ to work with and like you said its not like Yandle is really in a position to ask for a lot of money unless its short term.

Guys like Okposo and Ladd that think they are going to get 6 a year are high.

It wouldn't shock me if the sabres threw big money at okposo if they miss on Stamkos or someone else via trade.

I say stay put at #8, and get a LHD.
- bobmack13

Given how Murray trades picks/prospects for proven NHL assets I find it very hard to believe he moves up unless he's absolutely enamored with a guy. I find it more likely that he trades down.

Everybody laughed at me when I said Ladd wasn't worth it and that he and McGinn are worth about the same. Ladd has the experience, but McGinn is younger and a better player at this point.

Okposo gets 5 something. Book it.

If they make the pick at 8 the player will be 2-3 years away regardless of who it is. I would offer an option of trading it for a player who is ready now.
