I've said it to the wife many times; why are people so interested in what other people do in the bedroom? Americans are just so damn nosey. That's why they consume and produce porn like no other nation on the planet. Very weird. - bloatedmosquito
Yeah because they leave it in the bedroom. |

The whole new management came into a $hit show. - thundachunk
$hit show? I didn't think it was a poop show.
Trevor was able to hire his own GM and coach. No internal power struggles. The team was a few seasons removed from a cup final. Team core that was older but still capable. Luongo situation resolved. Good, tradable assets in Kesler and other veterans. And some skilled youth to start the rebuild process. A rebuild process the owner seems to be on-board with.
The prospect pool was dry but that's no different from any previous season before that.
Many new Pres/GMs have to deal with situations a lot worse than that. IMO, they made some questionable management choices that didn't help as much as we all hoped. |

I know I am one of the few but I like the direction the team has taken .I see almost a totally new roster with some youth and the 23-28 group filling in nicely.I think Benning has done a vey good job.

I agree. Pinning everything on the previous regime isn't fair.
Benning has made some good moves, questionable moves and bad moves IMO. As much as people laud his drafting, i'll give it a few years until I call him a drafting genius.

Again, he's done a tolerable job. Not 'very good', IMO.
Too many critics with too much ammunition to ignore that he's made mistakes in judgement. But I've accepted the fact that he's here to rebuild the prospect pool and turn over the team to a younger core.
My concern is that the team is moving away from that original plan and trying to be too competitive too quickly. A more veteran GM might be able to keep the team going in the right direction regardless of the external pressures felt.
Edit: continued in new thread. |

I don't think he has done much to earn a contract beyond a couple seasons and couple million dollars per. JB is in a strange spot. 1 more year left on both Miller and Markstrom's contracts.
Do you re up Miller? Do you let one walk or move one at tdl?
Guessing neither will be moved at tdl if the Canucks are in the hunt for the playoffs at tdl...
another goalie controversy on the horizon? - hillbillydeluxe
Cannot protect both in the expansion draft. |

expansion darft
list of players with NM or NT clauses
Alexandre Burrows
Alexander Edler
Jannik Hansen
Chris Higgins (limited; can submit a list of 8 teams he will accept trade to)
Dan Hamhuis
Ryan Miller (limited; can submit a list of 5 teams he will accept trade to)
Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
So we only need to protect Markstrom in goal
Forwards hanson sedins will not be exposed....so our list of protected after our pick of 7 would be up to 10....11 if you count burrows. Higgins may opt to be included in the draft just to extend his career.
D...edler will be protected and if you keep tryamkin under 60 games he'll be protected too. We could pick 3 more on D, which brings us to 5. Def tanev, EG and Hutton. Larson wont apply unless they count his previous games with the oilers years back, but I think its consecutive years so I doubt he counts.
So that leaves only 1 forward exposed, 1-2 D and no goalies.
Doesnt look too bad for us
Makes you wonder if this includes the AHL roster too |
