You're wrong. They haven't even said one way or the other what will or will not be protected. It's been pure speculation.
I don't know why you guys need to get in stupid arguments every day. It's like kids at a playground here sometimes.

Prove me wrong then I'll concede. I'm not going to drop something that I have been reading about for months just because you believe I'm wrong. If you can find me a clear answer then sure I'll eat my words but I've read more to support it than not.

I don't even know what you guys are arguing about.
As of today, they aren't sure if protecting guys with nmc or ntc count as your allocated number. Some guys have nmc that become ntc next year, so there is a lot that still needs to be discussed.

I'm just saying, no sense in fighting and arguing over something so silly.

They have figured out a lot of the details already. Including the NMC that turn into NTC next season (IE. Dan Girardi). They confirmed that only NMC that are signed through 2017/18 must be protected. This is why most are 99% sure an expansion team will be announced very soon. I'd link sources to support it but I have a feeling you just jumped in to get your name in the top 10 troll list.

There is discussion that they don't need to be protected, and that the expansion team can't claim them because of the nmc.
Still lots to iron out, no need to jump to conclusions.

PlayerS with an active nmc at the time of the expansion draft have to be protected.
Players with 2 or less years in the a or nhl who have played a minimum of ten games per season arent eligible for the draft.
NTC and nmc that have an outout clause at the time of the draft are eligible for the draft.
Horvat is not eligible.

The only must protect players on our team are the twins.

The twins will count as 2 of our 7 protected players, this leaves 5 more to go.

I think you got it backwards regarding eligible/not eligible, as its been reported players with 2 years or less of professional hockey are not eligible to be selected or require protection from the draft. Horvat will be starting season 3 next year and will be eligible for the draft (needing protection). Players with NMC's need to be protected (though I thought I saw they can be asked to waive, thats still TBD if the union is cool with that). NTC's are eligible for the draft and not automatically counted as protected players

I'm pretty sure they can be exposed if they choose to waive their NMC but I havent seen confirmation the same way other things have been. If I find something I will post it.

Buyout window opens on Wednesday?

I wonder how the "proposed" expansion will impact this. I would assume that the NHL teams will want to have a clear understanding of all the details surrounding the expansion prior to buying a player out.

Expansion vote isn't until the 22nd of June?

SEASON SALARY INITIAL CAP HIT ACTUAL COST SAVINGS BUYOUT CAP HIT
2016-17 $3,000,000 $4,500,000 $1,000,000 $2,000,000 $2,500,000
2017-18 $0 $0 $1,000,000 -$1,000,000 $1,000,000

Buying out Burrows saves 2 million next season but costs the club 1 million in cap space the following year, so realistically, the net savings is only 1 million dollars. I wonder if the buy him out?

Saving 1 million in the long hall is worth it, especially the 2 mill in this years free agency.

the date of the draft will be important too, if it's in june then expiring contracts will still be eligible, if its after FA starts then no.
Before FA would make the most sense as otherwise LasV wouldnt even know what they have for a team prior to FA then...and wouldnt be able to address weak areas. Prior makes the most sense to stocking LasV.

works for us. Slide higgins in there or burrows. Burrows will be important likely as theyll also need to hit cap floor. Miller.

True, it does give them flexibility for July 1st and Miller and company are off the books the following season.

It's a but unlikely they draft expiring contracts due to the fact that they could still walk after the draft. If you look at previous expansions they will be before the draft so they can also participate in the Entry Draft.

Burrows makes sence to buy out, Higgins no point just bury him in the AHL to save 950 K or off course try and dump him off to someone but thats unlikely
