Why would you be livid? If Benning thinks he projects higher than Tkachuk or PLD perhaps he is right...keep in mind that he knows more about these prospects than fans and scouts. Drafts never follow the consensus

i think that the point is that if benning identifies "down draft" players who are on his top 5, he should trade down and pick up another asset.

to take it to an extreme, if he thinks a player ranked 50th is the best player in the draft, it's probably not a good idea to take him at 5, even if he's eventually proven right.

I'm in the minority here but it's different dominating world juniors compared to dominating in the NHL. Dare I say Hodgson in our thread, Sandlak too. I'm just not convinced but if he does fall to us and Benning does like Brown more I hope he trades down and pick up a young top 6 forward, 1st and 2nd rounder.

If Benning didn't give stupid $$$ to Dorsett and Sbisa, they'd be in position to go after Lucic AND Ericsson

i don't know. i haven't watched any of these prospects.

in a general sense though, i'm always skeptical when players drop without games going on. i get how some players move up due to strong playoffs and int'l competition in may of the draft year (egs tckachuk and laine) but how does a consensus tier 1 player (who some had at 2) drop without games going on?

it's just the nature of the media to try "new angles" and "fresh analysis" to seem different.

imo, take the player who was a consensus top 3 all season.
