yeah, i've thought about that too.
now it seems that the fanbase is fixated on dubois. there's going to be an outcry from a lot of fans if puljujarvi is taken instead of dubois.
but that would be an amazing gift to the canucks. (but sadly it's a long shot at best) - RealityChecker
I think the reason for everyone being higher on Dubois is because in reality it's hard to see any of the top 3 fall lower. Between Tkachuk and Dubois, I feel Dubois fits the needs of the team going forward better if he can develop as a center. LW works as well but having versatility makes it more appealing going forward. If we somehow ended up with Pulijarvii, I don't think many would be that upset.

sure, i can agree with that.
i'm just of the opinion that the fanbase is higher on dubois right now b/c it's been over a month since we've thought we had no chance at pulijarvi.
if the canucks had gotten 3rd pick at the lottery, i don't think that the dubois (or brown) talk would be as much. sure, there are going to be a lot of fans that will covet the big, strong centre but i think it's also a product of not thinking we had a chance at 1 of the top 3.

i don't know. i haven't watched any of these prospects.
in a general sense though, i'm always skeptical when players drop without games going on. i get how some players move up due to strong playoffs and int'l competition in may of the draft year (egs tckachuk and laine) but how does a consensus tier 1 player (who some had at 2) drop without games going on?
it's just the nature of the media to try "new angles" and "fresh analysis" to seem different.
imo, take the player who was a consensus top 3 all season. - RealityChecker
I don't think it was him dropping. I think Tkachuk rose due to his performance. |

I wouldn't be 100 % sure Pulj is going number 3 - VANTEL
If CLB isn't going to pick him, they should trade down. Somebody would offer a boatload for that pick! |

They have had two offers that they feel wasn't enough. |

I have been trying to take a deep breath when I hear rankings and players climbing or falling. It is not like any of these media pundits have been privy to the projected drafting orders of teams.
As CS pointed out from Elliotte's blog, At this time of year, I refer to the Isiah Thomas rule. As a young reporter, he said to me, “Around the draft, everyone lies.”

That scenario you heard of the 5OA for Gallagher+9 overall+ 2nd would be solid, unlikely but i wish - phyllee
Take that deal and run absolutely. Then flip the 9th, and irtanen for the 3rd overall and col 2nd draft Pulijarvi i |

Virtanen should be (and probably is) untouchable (short of a mega-offer/overpayment by another club).
As far as the Gallagher plus plus scenario, Montreal would be crazy to do that. Gallagher is a slightly better version of Burrows in his prime, he is an ultra-pest, has good offensive skills, and shows up to play every night. Given his diminutive size, it's also amazing that he's been so durable. Most importantly, he is a PROVEN asset who is quite consistent in his game. I would love to have Gallagher on the Canucks but there is no way that happens based on the proposed deal on here. |

I think Puljujarvi has a decent shot of becoming the best player in the draft. - golfingsince

Bang on with the second part of the post. Not so sure I see why Virtanen is untouchable tho. |

Aww come on, we all know that the Oil will take the best D that they think is available, said D will bust out onto the scene like a trans-am on knight rider.... crashing and burning like a real car however. This is the way things work in oil country, haven't you heard? |

He doesn't care. He only picks the good parts about teams. That's why he cant stick with just one. Just think of him as a bandwagoner with no real direction as to where his allegiance lies. |

So if Montreal trades for the pick and one of the teams get fleeced how will you cope? Quite the conundrum for your situation huh? Maybe your true colors might finally show? |

He's a repressed Oilers fan, waiting for the day that the 15year rebuild is over, then he will throw up an avatar and team like it ain't no thang.

Just waiting for everyone to freak if JB doesn't draft the consensus.
I was looking forward to the draft, now I just want to see what happens in free agency. |

If playing with the Sedins is a big selling point, maybe 3 years is a good number as the Sedins may re-up for another season or two when their present contract expires.
We need some scoring added to the lineup and Eriksson fits the bill as well as any ufa out there. |
