I think you're way to attached to a middle six guy who was extremely lucky to be put with the Sedins and have a career year in goals. The guy averages 12 goals a year and he's a good penalty killer....that's all he is!!!!

I'd much prefer to sign another player of his skill-set (http://www.hockeybuzz.com...ap-central/freeagents.php) and take a 2nd round pick to the draft and try to unearth a gem in the second round. It's just good asset management.

- LeftCoaster

The odds of 2nd rounder amounting anything close to Hansen is slim to none.
That is POOR asset management. TDL is the best time unless a team offers a crazy deal this offseason. That is highly unlikely though. A mid 1st isn't reality now with the currency usually being a 2nd. That is not high value regardless of 22 goals or 15.

I think your way to attached to a 2nd rd pick.

I disagree. The message was clear this year and a youth movement is on the rise. While Hansen is still only 28, his value is highest now. You can predict whatever season you want next year but it won't be higher. That being said what happens if Rodin makes the team which I think Benning expects to happen or be a depth player. You have Virtanen, Dorsett and Etem that can play the right side as well. Let alone Burrows could stay for last year of contract. They are stacked on bottom 6 guys. Hansen is the highest value player of those mentioned. I don't think we should give him away for nothing just for the sake of doing it but if he could be packaged with someone it might be a better return. I think Hansen could help Boston out to some degree and they are also in need of a young defenseman. Hansen and Sbisa for their first and a prospect? Build around that idea and I think it's the scenario that happens IF he is traded. If he doesn't get traded, I just think it's an overloaded bottom six forward roster. How many bottom 6 guys can one team keep and make the playoffs? Maybe Burr is bought out and maybe not but it's not a bad idea to collect on Hansen if the return is decent.
- WhatTheNuck

None of Rodin JV Higgins Burrows Etem or Dorsett r better than Hansen now.
Til any if any outperform him i'd be surprised. So senseless trading away quality & keeping so many lesser talents. Its a patience game.

Boston traded a 2nd and a 4th for 33 year old Lee Stempniak in his ufa year, I would of loved to have gotten that for Hamhuis.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Hamhuis would not go to Boston.
Revisiting the non Hamhuis trade is getting tedious.

Once again we were in a PO spot then both Sutter/Edler were
hurt in the same game ending any hope & the tank began.

Up to date on the past u r 😜

Hansen is worth a first rounder in the 10-20 range. He's a guranteed utility player who can fill in on any line and has the oh so coveted speed. no guarantee that anyone drafted will pan out so the pick coming back would have to be significant.

imo, JB knows that GMs are overvaluing picks at this point and has made some sharp moves by using some of those overvalued picks to acquire pieces needed to compete.

Alot of people are saying 2nds arent that big of deal, yet when we added one to a trade for a top 4 Dman the sky was falling.
There is no way Hansen has more value playing 3rd line as he does now at TDL. trade and replace.

Trade for Malkin:

To Nux
Malkin
Schultz

To Pens
Hansen
Tanev
CBJ 2nd (in either 2017/18 per CBJ choice)
Nux 2nd (in either 2017/18 per PIT choice)
Nux 5th (just for consistency)

PIT gets two solid regulars plus early round picks, Nux get a 1C for the next 7 years or so and a RFA dman that PIT likely won't be able to sign anyway.

Nux would have go out and sign a dman or make another move. I would suggest signing Hamhuis to a 3mill/yr deal for 3 years.

It would take waaaaay more to get that deal done. And if your going to give up that much for Malkin just throw more money at Stamkos and keep all the assets

Malkin>Stamkos... besides no one can give Pitts fair value for Malkin... the guy is worth like 3 1st rounders and Hansen plus Tanev

Carlyle to be hired in Anaheim... Looks like we get to keep Green another year

"On the Calgary Flames …

Darren Dreger: Glen Gulutzan is believed to be the front runner for the Calgary Flames head coaching position.

Matthew Sekeres: Hearing that Canucks assistant coach Glen Gulutzan is a finalist for the Flames coaching vacancy. He has had at least two interviews.

Ben Kuzma: The Flames are close to naming their new coach, with Gulutzan a serious contender."

For anyone still interested in trading with CBJ
"Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen has been trying to trade Scott Hartnell, who has three years left at a $4.75 million cap hit. Team have been calling the Blue Jackets about Nick Foligno, who has five years left at $5.5 million."

At one time I thought Bob Murray was a smart GM, now, I'm not so sure? WTF is he thinking by hiring Carlyle again!

Looks like Gulutzan may be the front runner for the Flames job.

Not interested. If we were trading up its only for Laine.

“I’ve had phone calls; I’ve had (other GMs) ask me if we’d move the pick,” Kekalainen said. “And I’ve already had a couple of really good offers. Aggressive offers. Fair offers. But nothing yet that’s made me really consider moving it.”

Kekalainen added that it would take a big offer to move the pick.

If they are looking for centers, they could be considering Logan Brown, Clayton Keller and maybe Pierre-Luc Dubois.

I don't see anyone being willing to pay the price to get CBJs pick, theyll be asking for something monumental

Depends on where they move to. They probably want to stay in the top 10 to ensure their player. Would likely not need to really overpay to go from 5 to 3 as you would 7,8,or 9 to 3.

If the Canucks and jackets flip picks, with us knowing they want a centre...
I'd say we'd just have to give them their 2nd round pick back.
