Bad as he has been, Yakupov is still a guy worth taking a shot on. I think the most he is worth at this point is a 2nd round pick though. Not too long ago Justin Schultz was the "worst player in the league" and he went to the Pens and played solid for them down the stretch.
Depending on what is going on at the draft, I'd be all for the Pens shipping off a 2nd and seeing if Yakupov could work on Malkin's wing. A Yak-Malkin Kunitz or Hornquist line would have potential to be very good. - MacPatty
I want to seen an All-Russian line
But Yak's 2.5m could be a sticking point. If only the Oil hadn't committed to Talbot, we could have sent them Fleury |

So.... Translation Reimer is going anywhere but Toronto and Yak is probably going to end up in Carolina or something for a lot less then Eklund is saying...
Did I get that right? - bluengold12
Pretty much nailed it. |

Why would anyone WANT to go back to Toronto? Big beautiful city with tons to do, lots of hotdog vendors too, but it's an NHL retirement gig.

Could easily see Reimer or Anderson end up in Carolina. Also Yak if they price is right. |

Yakupov is a bust.. Why cant people just live and accept that? He busted. It happens. End of story. Oilers are lucky for whatever they get for him. They likely wont trade him and he'll bolt to the KHL ala Radulov, and come back when hes 30. |

Draft position is meaningless when you're an under performer, whether it's your fault or not. Sanheim and a second round pick would be plenty, although I think the Flyers would be nuts to do this! - LeftCoaster
This...
I mean maybe not the following year..but when its been a few you are not performing...who really cares when you were drafted ?
Anybody thinks Jamie been as less value now because he was a 5th rounder ? |

If that was true then Yakupov wouldve been traded by now. It is clear EDM is trying to get equal value. With the right usage and his release he is worth it. Could be the next Tarasenko - YuenglingJagr
oh my...stop the Qtips when you hit resistance !

??? I'm not sure what you're getting at, no riots in Toronto ever, or no playoffs so fans can even entertain the thought of a riot?
PS: I'm not from Vancouver. |

For some reason, GM's in the NHL have always had a thing for pedigree. Yakupov could go to another team and bust, and even then, some team will give him a chance because of his draft position. |

Sanheim isnt enough...he was 18th overall and Yakupov was 1st overall...so the Flyers would need to include at least another 1st and maybe Coots - YuenglingJagr
coots for yakupov? i wouldnt trade coots straight up for 80% of the league, much less a throw in for Yak. think you're grossly over estimating Yak's worth. |

For sure, they all want to hit the homerun and get the 10% of guys that are better after being traded...
dont get me wrong..i would like us to take the chance..but like Eller /and or Emelin + 3rd pick
not much more than that |

I'd be open to offering up Hagg and a decent pick for Yak, but sanheim is a bit too much for my taste. - Girouxsalem90
I completely agree. I was thinking Haag plus Read before I saw your post. Rather keep Sanheim. |

Lets think about that for a sec. 898 skaters played at least one NHL game this past season. 20% would be approx. 179 skaters. Couturier was 167th in pt-scoring and 128th in ppg.
I think you're right! I wouldn't trade 80% of skaters for Couterier |

Flames should sign Reimer for cheap instead of paying for Fleury. - Alexzanki
Agreed ! I think it's the obvious thing to do for Calgary. |

I don't know. Passionate fan base who stick with the team through thick and thin. Excellent coach and management team. Has some of the top young talent in the NHL. Excellent salary cap position. The richest team in the league with tons of resources.
Is that enough for you?? |

wow, dumbest post of all time. you'd kill to have coots on your team so he wouldnt completely shut down malkin every time. fortunately for us malkin wont be a penguin anymore so coots can focus on shutting down crosby from now on.
thanks for justifying my 80-20 figure though - sjk540
look, i'm a flyers fan and i love coots but we gotta let this one go...yes he shut down malkin in the playoffs. once. a long time ago. we haven't really accomplished much since so constantly bringing this up like a badge of honor for coots is getting kind of embarrassing. |

wasnt listing it as an accomplishment or using it as a badge of honor. a pens fan is, as usual, under-valuing coots. it was a refresher, since he apparently thinks there are 700 players in the nhl last year that are better than coots. |

I think the purpose of my post went completely over your head. I was supporting your argument that he is arguably better than 80% of the players in the league...
And as far as Malkin, Ive heard that so many times its like a bedtime story for me. But good to see you and EK agree. Are you his source? |
