Why would anyone WANT to go back to Toronto? Big beautiful city with tons to do, lots of hotdog vendors too, but it's an NHL retirement gig.

- LeftCoaster

Why wouldn't you? Most contenders can't afford to pay right now, half the middle teams are declining or will be, so why not choose a team on the (eventual) rise?

what makes you think that's the case? it's a city with massive traffic congestion, pot holed roads, constant repaving work on highways, pollution and air quality alerts, heat alerts, poor/ unclean transit, excessive taxes, expensive utilities, etc...
- kaptaan

Whereas Vancouver is a city with massive traffic congestion at every bridge, pot on most roads, so much foreign property speculating that locals can no longer live downtown without a 6 figure income, constant road closures due to falling rocks, incessant rain 10 months of the year, WAY more expensive food, equally expensive utilities, equally excessive taxation, and (depending where you live) heroine addicts passed out on most of the park benches.
Having lived in both places, i'd say the only real benefit of Vancouver is better air quality and scenery. This hardly makes up for the ray-ban wearing, rich kid pan-handlers on every corner, or over-inflated sense of entitlement most Vancouverites under the age of 30 seem to have.
Vancouver was my favorite place on earth in the late 80's and early 90's, with decent laid back people everywhere you turned. But it's not remotely like that anymore.

the oilers have no reason to move out yak for 20 cents on the dollar

This

The guy has his issues, but he's worth more than the laughable projections in these threads

I believe a gm will pony up something much better than many expect (which will still be a loss for the oilers in terms of a return for a former first overall ) and said gm could stil potentially hugely win the deal.

But there's just zero point in dealing him for a 3rd or something silly like that. Especially if the oilers also deal eberle. You'd be completely gutting your right side

No one that isn't considered at least somewhat wealthy can come close to buying a detached home anywhere near the downtown core.

But having grown up in edm, spent a summer in mtl, lived in whistler/Vancouver for over 6-7 years, and now Toronto for the past year, they all certainly have their pros and cons.
Having said that, and if one can come to terms with the aforementioned reality of not being able to buy a home near Downtown, I'm more than excited to move back to Van next month.
Best CITY in Canada by a country mile imo.

It's close proximity (an hour door to door from downtown) to what I consider probably the best ski area in the world, is also worth it's weight in Gold in my estimation

I've never been to San Fran, but I can imagine that being a pretty apt comparison

Sanheim isnt enough...he was 18th overall and Yakupov was 1st overall...so the Flyers would need to include at least another 1st and maybe Coots

Not giving Sanheim for Yakapov plain and simple ! I don't care that Yakapov was number 1 overall, so was Daigle.

Montreal needs defence, so i don't think they'd give up what they might have to to get yakupov when they could go for a Dman instead. don't underrate Yakupov.

Huh?

What does needing a dman have to do with mtl also being interested in yakupov?
The two needs literally have nothing to with the other. Teams can have more than just one piece they'd like to acquire.
And neither was I adamant that mtl is desperate to acquire him. It's an Ek rumour for eff sakes. But nonetheless, there's a potential fit there.

And what do u mean don't underrate him? I've been watching the guy for 4 seasons. I know exactly what he is. I neither underrate him, nor ignore the serious issues with his game

I don't know if this sarcasm or not, but assuming it's not;
regardless of buddies thoughts, the only real reason that matters is that yaks is just flat out not worth anywhere close to couts and a first. The flyers just wouldn't have to pony up near that price to acquire him.
Any other reason is just background noise

As I've mentioned, don't buy the nonsense that yaks is totally worthless, but he's got his warts no doubt. He's not even worth couts straight up, let alone adding a pick

If you were being sarcastic, just disregard

If the flyers get yakupov hextall should be fired if its sanheim+
the oilers should be offering yakupov + for someone to take him

Geeze can we at least try to make the rumors sound not made up? Reimer isn't staying in San Jose no matter what Toronto does or doesn't do. He wants to start and he's not doing that behind the guy who frankly should have won the Conn Smythe.

I doubt he's going back to Toronto either. That ship sailed. They don't think he's the #1 guy long term for them so they aren't bringing him back to team up with Bernier again. The Leafs need to solve the goaltending, but it's probably going to be a third party.
