Ladd on free agency 'I've done the rebuild thing there in #Winnipeg. At this point in my career I want another chance to win a #StanleyCupÂ
Doesn't sound like a good fit for the Canucks. - LeftCoaster
What are you talking about?
Rebuild's done. We're now adding playoff pieces. Get with the program. |

Keith Yandle appears destined to hit UFA market. #NYR and his camp have not had any contract extension negotiations.
Yandle and Gudbranson would make a good second pairing, slides Hutton down where he should be with Tryamkin. - LeftCoaster
Hutton is a #3/4 Dman already, although i would be quite happy if we could sign Yandle |

What's the rush? He's played one year and struggled with the defensive side of things at times, reduce his minutes and let him grow.
Why does everyone want to push these kids so fast? |

Save the money & use our cap better now or after expansion.
Too many D already IMO. |

Don't laugh, some people would debate about that. They're in for a rude awakening when the Sedins retire. Benning has a lot of building to do between now and the beginning of the 2018/19. |

If he's good enough to play middle pairing minutes let him play them. It's not like that would be over exerting him. He basically played top pairing minutes towards the end of this year and his play only dipped marginally. With Gudbranson to help him defensively he will be fine.
Unlike some of our young forwards i don't think Hutton needs to be sheltered very much. |

They need more depth on defense, this is the West not the East, Western Conference teams like the Canucks need defensive depth. The Canucks D was one of the worst in the league last year when injuries started to pile up.
I think it's much better to have him float between the third and second pairing. |

IF we have someone good enough to play above him I agree to an extent. But speaking purely from a development standpoint, more time on ice would be better for him. |

Not necessarily. More ice time does not correlate to better development especially for dmen. He struggled defensively last season especially the 2nd half. I agree with Lefty that it is probably better for him to start on the 3rd pairing with increased pp time. As the season and his development progresses, you can increase his ice time by moving him up. Starting him on the 2nd pairing gives a higher likelihood of sophomore slump/regression. |

I'm aware.
I just find it amusing that people here are so optimistic. Reality is we're a non-playoff team. If we overachieve we grab a wild card spot, if we underachieve we're a bottom 5 team again. |

If they add Eriksson and the team stays relatively healthy. They could easily push for a wild card. To the surprise of many around the league I'm sure.
They are not a contender. Nowhere close. Their best bet is:
for the youth to show more promise and development.
MAKE a few TDL deals this time.
Get lucky in lottery this time. |

I'd rather be optimistic than join the sky is falling crowd. Has anybody on here said the Canucks are a contender? They could surprise and grab a wild card spot or they may miss the playoffs. The important thing is the team improves and we see growth with the kids |

I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic, I'm just a realist, BUT, like Vantel says, the roster isn't filled out yet. Let's see where they land regarding the draft and the UFA field. |

I'd rather just be realistic and be pleasantly surprised if they overachieve. As Lefty said, people are going to be pretty disappointed once reality sets in. |
