I mean the guy has speed, tenacity and ridiculous hands. I am very excited to see what he can do on this team going forward (provided that he stays healthy) and it bother me how people want him gone - MCGUIZZY
Needs to learn to go north/south with the speed - especially if he rides with Jack - and not so much with the east/west. |

NHL Rumors @NHLRumorsDaily
Price I'm hearing for Stamkos' rights is a 2nd and a young, NHL ready winger. That's the price set by Tampa, not the market.
This is the kind crap I'm talking about.. - bluengold12

Whats with the 40/70 rule ? Ennis didn't play 40 games last season and need to play 70 this upcoming . Am I missing something ? - cabin
I was going to say our approach should have been to have most players (think Larsson, Foligno and ect.) contracts expire at the end of the year so that they are FREE AGENTS and we could still sign them back, rather than have them taken. |

Quoting him as an insider is the same as considering me an insider. |

It's 40 the last season, or a combo of 70 from last season and the upcoming one. Prolly just to deter from putting LTIR players out there. |

Well he played 23 games last year. so 46 or less games next year gets him excluded |

That's how I read it. Don't know if that applies to goalies or not, but would be nice to not have to save Lehner and exclude someone like Ullmark. Prolly a different stipulation for goalies though. |

Not excluded, but each team MUST included 2 forwards and 1 defender that meet those requirements. Ennis could still be there on top of the above requirements. |

I don't think it gets them excluded. Each team must provide two forwards and one defenseman with those game limits. |

No exclusions beyond the # of years a player has played in a pro league.
As someone else mentioned, the 40/70 is a requirement that a certain number of players who played that many games in the past season or past+current (upcoming) season need to be exposed. Likely a desire for the league to force teams to have to supply a true "vet" to the new team. |

I'm fine losing ennis to the expansion draft. However, I think we will loose Pysyk if he is on the roster during the draft. |

Dear GMTM,
Please put a healthy Tyler Ennis on Eichel's wing...give it a try. If I'm wrong feel free to ship him away at the trade deadline for a nice bounty.
Signed,

I think it would be easier if they just said anyone on an ELC is exempt. From reading through the rules, it would seem those are the only exempt players. |

As I was saying earlier, I would think our approach would be do expose players like Moulson, Ennis and (Vet D man here), while all other (non-blocked) players contracts expire, such that they could not be "picked" from you and yet you could still resign come free agency. |

Vegas can only choose 1 player from each team, so that is nice, but yea, I would rather trade the "easy" target than lose for nothing. It may be hard to do though. |

Would make a whole lot more sense, I agree.
Downside is, there will be a 2nd expansion in the future, and the duo will be off their ELCs... |

I always figured they'd do something more - actually thought maybe they'd open HarborCenter for viewing, but this was just announced at least:
The Buffalo Sabres today announced plans to host the 2016 NHL Draft Fan Fest™ at Canalside during the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft™ on Friday, June 24 from 4 to 10 p.m.
The event is free to the public and will also include a viewing party when the Draft begins at 7 p.m. Further details regarding the Fan Fest will be available closer the date of the event.
The Fan Fest will feature giveaways, interactive games and appearances from select Sabres players and alumni. Before the draft, there will be live music, giveaways for fans, as well as a Kids Zone and photo opportunities. Food and beverage options will also be available including many local food trucks.
Once the draft begins, fans will be able to watch the NBCSN draft coverage on two large video screens. Throughout the event, fans will have a chance to win prizes and hear from special guests on stage. |
