I think the Bickell, Teravainen deal is a win for Chi personally.
Yes Teravainen might turn out to be a top 6 player but they got pretty good value for a guy who still has a lot of question marks.
If most people agree Baertschi for a 2nd was good value, doesn't moving Teravainen for a 2nd, 3rd and 4 million in cap space make it look like coup for the Hawks?
Teravainen is a better prospect than Baertschi was at 21 but I'm not sure their upside is much different. - belcherbd

I just said the exact same thing to a buddy praising Carolina. Solid trade for Chicago |

TT and SB will probably be very similar players. I think TT will have slightly better point production, but SB will have a better 2 way game. - Retinalz
Really? I think TT is the superior player in both aspects. Now that he is likely to see top 6 minutes/opportunities in Carolina I think his usage will be favorable and his production will improve dramatically. |

I must have missed that, was he posting in another teams comments section? - hillbillydeluxe
I haven't seen him posting for a bit. I figure his lashing at the Oilers fan got him. |

I don't think it's a loss for Carolina either though. They get an NHL ready top 6 guy and someone who can play on their bottom 6 for now. They don't have cap issues. |

Thats fair, they both did ok. I was just a bit surprised CHI was able to gain two picks |

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, Chicago will be fine without TT and can use that Bickell capspace very well. For Carolina, you hope that TT thrives with the opportunity instead of being exposed. The Canes have a decent set of forwards but not like the Hawks, it'll be interesting for sure |

Hence the reason you accumulate picks at the deadline.

I disagree. Look at the freak out here when Benning traded McCann for Gudbrandson. Could you imagine if he had traded Burrows and McCann for a 2nd and 3rd?
- fiveandagame
Different situation though. They're a cup contending team that needs space to sign players, not a team that should be holding onto youth at all costs. |

There is also a freak out because we didn't make this trade...and there would be a freak out if we did. I try not to concern myself with the dillusional members of this fanbase. |

Totally different situations. The cap space is worth more to Chi than Van and the picks are worth more to Chi than Gudbranson would be (considering their cap situation).
Still think it was a good deal for Carolina but I don't really like to see anybody helping the Hawks out of their cap problems unless it is for a proper fleecing (which I don't think this was).

Personally, I laugh at the emo, sky-is-falling-crowd. I hope they team continues to develope and the kids improve and gain experience but feel that the playoffs are a pipe (bong) dream. - Marwood

I'm curious since I really have no clue, what is Boesers expected skill cap? Are we expecting him to be a 1st line player? |

I think it's too early to say that. With Sven you can't really look at his age because his growth was so stunted with Calgary, he's only now starting to catch up to where he should've been years ago. He could still turn out to be better than most are saying he will. |
