Desharnais is TERRIBLE.
He was a healthy scratch 5 times last year.

I think he'd be shot out in the back if he did the deal for Desharnais and the 9th for the 5th. That would be a crappy trade for us. Include Beaulieu and I'd say yes though

I think with Burrows it could go either way. He might be packaged (salary retained), he could be a solo trade (salary retained) and if all else fails he is bought out on the final day.
Higgins who knows? - VANTEL
Another options - Burrows is retained and plays out his contract. |

Aside from not trading first round draft picks ( recently selected players not included) I haven't seen much consistency in the plan. Trying to get younger is obvious, but holding on to vets and allowing them to walk for nothing. That seems to be what we're dealing with.
Unless we're mathematically eliminated at the TDL, I expect we'll see much of the same. If we are eliminated at that point, I can see a regime change happening as well. - golfingsince
I think buying out Burrows could potentially be a good idea due to his NTC. He could just cause problems with any potential trades IF that's even a possibility. Not about cap space but just moving on and making our next TDL not become the same as the last one. |

Higgins isn't eligible for a buyout apparently
the minimum cap hit is 2.8 million. |

The best thing for Burrows is to be bought out. If he plays this yer for Canucks he gets 3 mil. If he gets bought out over the next two years he receives 3.5 plus gets a new contract from his new team. |

These guys are morons. We trade 5OA and Burrows(we are retaining salary?) for 9oa and 45oa? not only are we getting shafted, but need to retain salary to get shafted in this scenario. |

That really got to me. Called my wife after I read the news and had her give the phone to my two year old daughter so I could say hi. Moments like those that remind you how precious each moment is. |

I would laugh if a team paid any more than a 4th rounder. The only reason to do it now is just to be able to legally able to talk any real numbers(as far as i know) and maybe 1 or 2 extra days. 4 or 5 days before UFA teams are allowed to talk to players to determine if it is worth making an offer. - Retinalz
I get that he's an elite talent but you want a player now, and a player later for a guy who's gone in a week........or could re-sign with you? |

I don't know man, I have a two year old and she was on my lap when the news came on the TV. I couldn't help but wonder WTF the parents were doing letting the kid play in a lagoon in Florida after dark. |

Nothing worse could happen to a parent. Thankfully things like that rarely happen |

There's some truth to that, and there were plenty of no swimming signs as well, but at the same time you don't expect alligators on Disney property. There's blame to go around, but none of it belongs to the two year old.
Honestly, I feel for the parents. |

That was exactly what my wife said. It's pretty odd really. 9pm at night couldn't have been that dark but still you'd think at two years old that you wouldnt let them get far enough for that too happen. When I'm. Outside with my daughter I never get more then 6-10 feet away. They are way too quick to let them roam any further.

I think Higgins is done.
Hopefully Bieksa and Kesler are talking up Burrows to Carlyle and we can ship Burr off to ANA…unlikely tho.
Welcome back and thx for the muscle vs that Ron clown.

Of course none to the 2 year old. To me it's difficult to feel bad for the parents. I get a bit of rage inside me thinking about them. I'd rather see them charged then give them any sympathy.
It's a lagoon, in Florida. There are over a million gators in the state. Anyone that's ever been there knows they are everywhere. It's dark, not broad daylight.....which is bad enough. |

Florida is pretty far south of where we live man. I'm sure it's dark by 8. |

I just caught part of the news, they said there weren't supposed to be any alligators in the water/lagoon and when they went to look for the 2 yr old, they found 3.
I guess there was a certain sense of safety/security at a Disneyland resort.
very sad. |

I'm not aware of the story, but my thought would be what is the point of charging the parents?
Is any punishment going to come even close to the grief they are going to feel for the rest of their lives? Will it prevent/deter other parents?
I don't think so. |
