Agreed.
Would the NHL just make an exception and/or require the team to keep the one with the highest cap hit? - jmatchett383

Godspeed R. J. Umberger. You had a beastly 2008 playoff, but unfortunately you'll always be remembered for taking that suicide pass and getting absolutely destroyed by Brian Campbell (Niko Dimitrakos ). |

Yeah...its a negotiating tactic to see if he will go to the AHL and it gives teams time to call about Laughton - YuenglingJagr

Did Vinny retire yet because that's another 2.25 off the cap I believe. |

Would that hit be penalized now? That hit was over 10 years ago.
I think it would be. |

For 30 and 31 from Toronto I do that deal. No money retained. |

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that possible scenario. That's a tough one to decide for myself. But, you could potentially land Logan Stanley to replace Morin's size with one of those picks. |

I wanted to see him with G/Simmonds or G/Jake last year when he was moved to wing. His underrated wrister may be a nice touch with Jake and G's playmaking abilities. - arichardson22
unfortunately the dude plays with so much reckless dis-abandonment that it seems like hes sat out some games every season hes been up. I think that can easily be overcome with more experience, what you can and cannot do. I think he's definitely an under-valued asset we have and i hope we see some growth from him this year, but i dont think thatll come unless he's lined up with some offensive talents.
id like to see him get a chance before raffl, i think raffl makes our bottom 6 stronger and thats where he should stay. maybe take some lessons from lappy on contributing to the pk. |

Curious why so many think the 2016 draft class is a weak one? Is Hexy just paying lip service or does he truly believe it's a quality first round? From what I've read, I see a good player being available at 18 and it may even be worth trading 48 & 53 to jump into the later first round and make another selection on Friday night.
Comparing it to recent years, I'd say the 2016 first round looks about on par with 2013 and better than 2012 & 2014. Obviously immediately following the ultra deep 2015 draft is going to make it look weak in comparison. |

im definitely on the opposite view here with Laughton. I think the kid still has more to show, and can definitely be afforded more playing time. I'd actually like to see him on the 2nd pp unit instead of white, white has no business being out there. Laughton plays with an edge, can skate like the wind, and has a very underrated wrister. He's also not the smallest so being a net front, pesky guy on the 2nd unit may be right up his alley. I think his potential can be a top 6 Left winger if he gets concreted as a LW and not shuffled around so much.
also playing with offensively skilled players may help. i wonder how he'd do on Giroux and Simmer's line? - sjk540
Unless the Flyers change their PP setup, Laughton can't replace White in that spot. Laughton is a LH shot. Need a RH shot for that spot, that's why White is there. What other RH shot on the roster last year, was a better choice in that down low spot on the 2nd PP unit?

Not sure they need more size.
Myers is 6'5 and I think Wilcox is 6'4.
The Flyers need more skill. If they were able to add more picks I would try to get to 3 somehow.
I think Stanley is more of a project then Morin was. I would want to get a more skilled player. |

I'm blanking on his concussion from Niskanen and how it happened, but his injury in the caps series was just an awkward collision on a competitive play. Pretty crazy now that I realize both his roughed up moments were against the Caps. I think fans should give him more time, he recently turned 22 and only has 1 full NHL season under him. I'm not worried about him and still think he's figuring out his game in the NHL. Time will tell. |

I personally would go forward over Stanley. Take a gamble on Benson with one of the picks even. Stanley does have skill with his first pass and improved offensively somewhat. His size and frame are impressive though.
Edit: I mainly stated Stanley for replacement purposes of losing a dman with size. |

Hey everyone. Been a while since I posted but it's finally getting close enough to draft day so I guess I'll get involved.
Love what Hexy had to say. Unless we're moving into the top 8-10 I prefer to stand pat and draft one of Kunin, Bellows or Rubstov. Though I wouldn't be totally unhappy with Jones, Gauthier, McAvoy, Fabbro, Asplund or (bit of a reach at 18OA) Mascherin.
Now if we were to move up I'm looking at Sergachev, Keller, Brown, or Bean. Again, I don't see it being a priority on Hexy's agenda but maybe targeting COL at 10th OA could work. They seen to be at somewhat of an organizational crossroads.
Something like Schenn, 18th, 2016 2nd, 2017 2nd, and Hagg for 10th and a 2016/17 4th
Change Hagg to Sanheim and take out one of the 2nd's?
Or maybe
Schenn, Laughton, Hagg, 18th and 2017 2nd?
