i would prefer we not do that. how much do they have left in their soft little tanks? - IndianaSabresFan
I actually would love to have Markstrom.
(I might or might not trade Johnson for him in NHL games every time)

If we could get Thatcher Demko's rights in that deal I'd be much more obliged. |

For the record...
I was NOT comparing Ennis to Hall or Eberle as equals or even close to it. Hall and Eberle are hands down the better players.
My only point was... if we are going to sell off a top 4 dman and a #8 pick plus more.. I'd like their numbers, games played (Hall), etc to blow me out of the water as our legit LW candidate.
They both kind of strike me as Evander Kane types where they will be the first scapegoat anyone here will have if they don't pot 30 goals like Kane didn't in his first season. - JVince11
Ebs is a right winger anyway.
But he's averaged 65 points a year over the last 5 years. That's true top line winger numbers. Top 5 over that span for right wingers too.
And hall is in another echelon altogether.
Either way, neither gets traded for anything less than one very quality defender. Even if the oilers needed to add to ebs to get it done. Don't think picks or extra pieces gets it done. Just my opinion though |

I honestly think Bogosian plus a 3rd and maybe a prospect could get it done for Eberle |

Granted I don't subject myself to torture of watching many Oilers games... but Hall I know is a two way player and very physical. Solid all around guy. Eberle is a huge defensive liability isn't he? All offense basically? yes? no? |

He's weak defensively yeah. Or at least not committed to it. And not big enough that he can mask weak play in his own end without high effort.
A pretty typical highly skilled scorer/snipe really.
Goes quiet for a couple weeks, then gets hot and goes unconscious for stretches. But 65 per is nothing to sneeze at
I'm a big fan and you'll love him when he's hot. But you'll get frustrated at times.
I actually think he'd be even better offensively in the east |

I dunno
Depends on how desperate the oilers are I guess
The extra pieces don't really tip the scales to make it a more desirable deal. And bogos contract isn't ideal.
I think they aim higher and add to ebs if need be. But I dunno..
Not sure the two teams are good trade partners really.
For me, I'd only be interested in Risto. But since he's not going anywhere.. |

Hall yes, Eberle goes missing half the season every season so I wouldn't deal for him. - BigStew
He avg 76 gp per season and has never played less than 69 on a full season. |

Who's really trading away any top pair d-men though? Not saying Bogosian is your only choice, but I don't think teams are looking to push away their #1 or #2 guys anywhere. |

I took it as scoring disappears
And while it's semi true for short stretches, can't really argue with his numbers every year.

There's a few bandied about. But you're not wrong per se.
Either way, I don't think this means you necessarily settle on whatever u can get.
The oilers aren't in a total mess on the backend going forward and just need anyone semi reasonable.
They need a top pairing guy to play with klefbom. And a puck mover to play with sekera. Having nurse in the pipeline and Davidson who came out of nowhere, they give them a little wiggle room. They could potentially be really solid going forward and unless they get their man, notbsuper prudent to just "settle"
That said, the pressure to make a serious step forward now might be too much.. |
