Fowler's contract situation is a tough one too. great value at 4 mil for 2 years but then you likely wind up overpaying to re-sign him once the deal is up. - Sabresfan-365
2 years is great.

You have to recuse yourself in this discussion, you are still stuck on THE TRADE - GilPerreault11

His contract is not fine. It's awful. He's over paid and has a NMC that kicks in after this year and until 2020 - bluengold12
No, Moulson's contract is awful. If his contract was awful there would be no market to trade him at all; if he was as terrible as some of you state why do you hope to get such a nice return in a potential trade? |

Myers played 30 more games than Bogo over the last few years. And is just plain better. |

The nice return in trading Bogosian is the cap space we get back. I do not expect much at all in a potential trade unless some archaic GM still thinks throwing big hits=great defender. |

He's overrated to you, he traded for him for a reason. Anything else ? - SABRES 89
He traded for Kane. I'm sure Bogosian was enticing piece but if he's so good with such a good contract, Winnipeg wouldn't have been so quick to give him up. Also I'm sure by now Murray is probably sick of his defensive liabilities and injury problems.
I'm not saying he's calling teams to trade him but he will definitely take calls and be open to getting rid of that contract. |

plays half the year and then he gets injured
he's done for the playoffs that's very useful - GERBE!!!75PTS
Did he not play well during the last 1/3 of the season? Perhaps his stomach injury negatively impacted his play through-out the year? Looking at the Sabres D right now, who could step in and play RHD on the second pairing and replace Bogo?

I wouldn't be sure of the last part. Murray likes Bogo. Another reason why I'm skeptical of Murrah |

Im mostly kidding but id be devastated if they couldnt go far while a decent chunk of their core was still making next to nothing on the cap. |

Myers has played 21 more games since the 2011-2012 season. A massive 4.2 games per season more. |

Murray has said countless times he will take calls on all players except Eichel and O'Riley pretty much. Of course you'd include Risto and Reinhart in that discussion too. He is all about opportunity. I guarantee he'd be open to it if an offer came in he deemed fair enough |

Then sign Foligno and Girgensons to 3mill per contracts each and sign 1 or 2 more "vets" for depth. |

Some D happen to skate, can make an outlet pass (unlike Myers) AND hit (unlike Myers) who happen to have size and play the 2nd PP unit and are in demand. Now, can he make better decisions at times? Sure, but D do not reach their peak until latter than forwards. I think he's a keeper. |

The only thing Bogosian does in his own end is get whiffed on by a pass that goes right by his swirling eyes.
When healthy he is a decent PP defender and finds himself in the right spot on the offensive zone. Not unlike a former Sabre who is universally hated and plays in another northern american city |

Different point in the rebuild though. I mean I wouldn't rule it out but I dont think they'd be interested. Although I didn't think the stars would be either so who knows.
