I really don't see an issue with a $5.1 million cap hit - Stripes77
petry makes 5.5 per and I think bogo is a better player |

Call me overly realistic but I believe what you see is what you get. He'll miss 15 games a year per on avg. Make plenty of mistakes in defensive coverage that will make you want to pull your hair out, make a few nice hits once in a while and will stick up for teammates and will also go on a few nice hot streaks with finding the net on the 2nd PP unit. Is that worth 5 million a year for 3 or 4 more seasons he has left? I don't really think so. No. Also if he regresses we're stuck with him. - bluengold12
Defensemen don't hit their stride until their mid 20's...

can you name 5 guys up front we need to protect?
ror, stamkos, kane and ...........................
if we have 4 great d men, I am ok exposing larsson, girgens, foligno, stink, stank and stunk
plus from what I read, we do not have to protect moulson, only bogo - homiedclown
RoR, Kane for sure. You'd assume the very least we get 1 guy this year who will be a 100% protected. Hopefully if I have it my way we get at least two guys we'd like to protect.
If Ennis comes back to his usual 20 goal pace he's an obvious protection. You'd have to think then it comes down to Girgensons and Foligno should neither be traded which I think isn't likely. If they are for some reason both on the team then you pick which one had the better year keep him and trade the other |

This....
Again if you want to find a better option than Bogo in the top 4 go ahead and look but you're not going to get that without giving up a ton of assets... |

He's playing better then Bogosian - bluengold12
not sure about that
myers only has 11 more points in nhl since the trade
bogo is much better in his own end
bogo brings the heavy like myers was suppose to do and instead shys away from
moving forward, the team needs a bogo in the top 4, I am willing to upgrade him to a better bruiser in our own end of course |

but yandle stinks at 29 years old, even though he is one of the fastest d men in the game

Ask any scout and they will pretty much give you the same information.
Sure their are exceptions to the rule, but playing defense in the NHL is not something that you just come into the league and be good at. |

He's not though. Petry had a lot better underlying numbers |

Everyone has gotten scared of the Brad Richards and Matt Moulson contracts forgetting they play a much different position. |

if we lost an often injured player who peaks at 20 goals if he plays 80 games
or we lost a player that refuses to play the coaches game
or we lost a player who never turns the corner but we keep him because his dad was a great sabre
but we have 4 solid d men and guhle, nelson and pick 8 in the pipeline
I think we would be ok
sign a few guys for 1 year deals to round out the roster and pack the bags for an under achiever up front in 13 months |

nah weber was worse
many time when bogo had his "lapses" the other d man had pinched down low and our slow a$$ guys up front were dogging it to get back in our own end
bogo is not a top 60 d man
but he is fine as a 3/4 and the furthest thing from the 10 biggest problems we have for next season |

Bogosian at his best is your 4th best defender on a playoff team. He's part of the bigger picture problem. I'm not the only one mentioning him as a possible trade asset or else there wouldn't be articles mentioning it. |

yup
I still think moulson will be ok on the 3rd line if given a fast winger on the other side (bailey) and a center that plays the coaches system |

1. goalie
2. top line winger
3. second line winger
4. legit top pair d man with left shot
5. second pair d man
6. defined 3rd line
7. pp coach
8. conditioning
9. aggressive coaching
10. new goal song
these 10 things are much more important than bogo, as of now |

It's not that I don't like him it's that he's a practacle trade asset and has been in the rumor mill recently. It's part of the discussion. I'm discussing why I think he should be traded. If we end up keeping him I hope he greatly improves because last year as a whole won't cut it |

I'd say it's more like
1. Top pairing LHD
2. Top line LW with speed to play with Eichel
3. Consistent goaltending/injury free
4. Getting rid of bad contracts
5. Improving speed and skill of bottom six
6. Taking more chances as a coach.
7. Better in game presentation by the Sabres entertainment department.
