Wonder what it would cost the leafs to get stamkos rights? Kapanen and a second? Cuz if they absolutely knew they could get stamkos (for 7 years not 8), they could move first overall for a haul. He is far from a top of the list want, but how about Jiri Hudler as a reasonably priced option?

He was back to reality in terms of production last year, but perhaps his numbers would spike playing with Reinhart and Eichel similar to the way they spiked two years ago playing with the Flames young guns?

The Oilers have been on the Sabres for a long while to see if they can acquire defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen from them for a winger (Eberle has probably been pitched) but it’s a non-starter. Buffalo needs wingers, for sure, but Ristolainen is untouchable. Probably even for Hall because the Sabres already have a similar player in Evander Kane.

I knew that would ruffle the light feathers of the Oiler bruhs but if they offered only Eberle, that's pretty weak and Hall is better than Kane by quite a bit.

an overpayment for Risto is Hall and #4. If it was that I would listen, then hang up. It isn't that there couldn't be an even valued trade worked out, but Risto is simply not an option. It would be like us asking for McD from them...

There is a reason the Oil have been looking for a top defenseman for years now...not very many teams are willing to even consider these types of offers. By making any trade involving Rasmus would put the Sabres back years...
