I listened to Darren Dreger on TSN today and he along with other Canadian media refuse to mention the Sabres as contenders for Stamkos. Today it was Detroit and the Leafs. They admit they know squat but their bias pisses me off. - GilPerreault11
i think when they qualify it by saying that we are stacked at center and stamkos wants to play center, its not as bad. its not exactly true, somebody can move to wing, but there you go. its when they say buffalo is a garbage town just north of siberia, but no free agent could pass up the undisputed charms of detroit- thats when its aggravating.
Ive never thought Buffalo was a true landing spot for Stamkos.
Its fun to dream, but I just don't see it. - ImThatGuy
I'll be happily surprised if he comes here. I can rationalize that there are reasons Buffalo could be attractive. Where they are in their rebuild, how close they are to his home town of Toronto, maybe him wanting to be close to Toronto but not in the media fish bowl. But we seem to always lose out so I'm not going to get my hopes up.
For as much as we rag on Toronto, the chips seem to be falling for them quite nicely recently. - ImThatGuy
They're if anything a few steps behind us. Let's be real
Eichel is at worst equal to Matthews but from most of what I read get's the nod
Risto is better then anyone they have on defense.
O'Riley better then anyone they have on center
Reinhart vs Marner is an unknown but Marner would have to be at least a 20 goals scorer this year to equal Reinhart (not easy)
They have a few young unknown pieces Nylander etc but nothing we don't have
Buffalo is coming out of its rebuild and has very few prospects in the Minors to show for it. Long term success could be a concern.
Toronto has a crap ton of picks 2 1's 2 2's and 2'3s this year. and an already talented system.
They are going to be good, as much as we want to admit or not. - ImThatGuy
It doesn't matter how good they are. We are currently better and have just as young prospects. If he's going where he thinks will be one of the best teams in the future it certainly won't be (frank)ing Toronto.
toronto has Two first round picks and two second round picks.
It will be Matthews+++ - ImThatGuy
Not every pick is a hit.... We also have Guhle, Bailey. If they were in the Leafs organization both would be hyped likely by yourself as well like they were going to be future all stars
