There's a chance Julien leaves Boston, I know a lot of folks probably don't want to see the guy who beat us but it would be a good fit. He knows how to coach the type of team JB is building. - neem55
I knew you were Dave Pratt. |

So would I, in a heartbeat. - neem55
CBJ would have a #1C and a #1D if they trade the 3oa, we have one of those and he 35 (frank)ing years old. |

I should probably be insulted cause he's such a puts, but that was a good one. |

You havent been here long enough. I was being sarcastic. If this was mid-season you most definitely would have heard about it. You should have seen the uproar when Aaron Volpatti was lost on waivers.... - chompsey[/quote]

We've realistically got three d-men with #2 potential (or declining from #2 in Edler's case maybe) but no number 1 and Hank(35 and not getting better). Columbus would have duchene and Seth Jones. Kikolinen would be fired if he didn't take that deal. |

Again, it's just a difference of opinion. I really don't think that's true at all and you've done nothing to substantiate your opinion. A proven player is worth more than a prospect. If you were saying "toronto would not trade Matthews for Duchene straightup" I think that's actually debatable. But Duchene for Puuljarvi is a no-brainer for columbus. 1C is the hardest position other than 1D to fill in the NHL and he has the talent to do it. That and he's coming off of season's where continues to increase his point total and has a fairly reasonable contract at 6 mil for another three seasons. - neem55
You are wrong here. 71 GP and 70 pts in 2013-2014 and then next season he hits 55pts in 82 games. last season was 59 pts in 76 games. Either way it is a drop in production from 2013-2014. tanev is a #2 d and a RHD at that. This is coveted right nw. EDM has been trying to buy one for a long time now and has failed. Current rumor is an overpayment for Bogosian. Defense have more value than forwards right now. The gudbranson trade proved that. Also players not needing protection are at a premium right now. Dubois ceiling is higher than Duchene's, but we need Duchene more than Dubois right now. Colorado is in a bad position right now. They have 4 defenseman that need to be protected, Francois Beauchemin/Erik Johnson have NMC for the 2017-2018 seasons, Barrie and Zadorov as well. If they don't keep Zadorov then they literally got nothing for O'Reilly and Grigorenko is proving to be a 3c at best. |

Do you all feel GG is a good hire, and that he is much better prepared to lead after his AC stint? I don't know a lot about him, seemed like an off the board hire though. |

I'm worng and you're talking about a guy who scored 70 points in 70 games being traded for a prospect!?
How did the Gudbranson trade prove anything? We didn't give up anything like a duchene. Except, oh wait, it does show that a prospect (McCann) is not enough it itslef to land a descent PROVEN player, so a very high pick was added (#33).
On top of this, Duchene is better than Gudbranson (and I really like and value defensive d-men, but still). I'm done with this conversation, as you can't seem to wrap your head around DUchene being a 1C and the value of that. I agree with the expansion coming teams will be more willing to trade, but they are not going to trade proven assets for a single prospect, that's madness. |

I haven't heard anything negative mentioned about him from the pundits and commentators. only positive stuff.
Having endured Torts and WD must give him an interesting perspective.
On another site, I saw some negative comments regarding his special teams work with the Canucks, but I blame the personnel as much as the coaching.
He should do fine. Not sure how long coaches are expected to be around with rebuilding teams anyway. (not meant as a jab just the nature of teams that are young and wanting to make the playoffs) |

One more year of WD and we get a good draftpick and a full scale coaching change. 2017 is when I see us starting to turn the corner. Unless JB goes and gets two top 6 guys... then were a non-competitive bubble team - neem55
I see WD assessed by Xmas if stays or goes but much depends on JB's final roster moves. If a big UFA like Eriksson is signed & a trade or 2 is made WD will be pushed to win. Green would be his replacement IMO. As for an AC i like an old vet like Guy Boucher type cuz he did a great job in TB in their formulative years. |

Yes, I am aware. My point is he didnt do that well there so was there demonstrative improvement being the AC hence 'off the board'. |

Benning had "a lot of calls today" on pick #5. There were "some names in the market place that I hadn't heard before". #Canucks
Benning still isn't looking to move the 5th pick but does expect dialogue to increase in the next week. Has 6 players he likes so happy at 5
Benning maintains he wants to add a 20-30 goal scorer in free agency along with a 2-way fwd. Hasn't made a decision on Higgins & Burrows yet
Benning calls Tkachuk & Dubois foundational players. Says MT is going to be a scorer in NHL w/ better vision than dad. Sees PLD as a center |

Good coach, very defensive. I think Karlson will be getting much less minutes under him and hopefully learn d-zone stuff. |
