If MAF were to stay as a backup here, he most likely will never get another NHL contract again. He needs to go somewhere and be a starter. For his service JR will set him up. - sammy87
MAF is not staying here not matter what scenario someone dreams up. He's as good as gone. |

Wilson needs to prove he can stay healthy. He seems to get injured every time he gets called up. I like his potential, but want to see him play for an extended period of time. - mw630
Wilson signed a one way contract so there is no more being called up. He's on the team to start the season and he will look just fine on Malkins wing. |

I think you and I had the conversation earlier in the playoffs. You said you thought Murray was Sully's "guy". I wasn't sure at the time, but I believe you had it right. I don't see MAF being considered a starter next year with this coach.
It's a tough situation, but I think they're going to do everything they can to move MAF before the start of the season. - madmike71
I'm not sure Murray is Sullivan's guy. He put Fleury in game 5 of the eastern conference finals for pete's sake with a million reasons not to. |

Fresh off a cup win, draft in one week...and we get four pages of comments on hockeybuzz?? It's going to be a long summer. |

It's nervous anticipation after unparalleled ecstasy!
It's funny when you win the cup, your not trying to win after the season has finished - you don't have any scapegoats that are the ire of the board, we won!
The biggest thing is Flower & I think we've talked the pants off the subject. There's no real target available at the moment until something happens. Who knows, we may be this years version of Tampa (unless they are.....ah......another version of......ah.....Tampa? ), & not make any moves (if the cap allows that). Biggest thing after MAF is Shultz.
So what is the market for him;
2.5m x 2 years 2/1
3m x 2 years 4/1
3m x 3 years 3/2
3m x 4 years 3/1
2m x 4 years 10/1 |

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!
You must be trolling if you truly believe that. Your trade, a carbon copy of others in the last blog, got smashed by a ton of people. I don't have to waste effort pointing out your delusions.
Mine on the other hand, opened up discussions and merit. You're a moron. |

That's fine he's on a one-way contract now, still doesn't change the fact he needs to stay healthy. Would love to see him do well with Malkin, but needs to prove he's not Beau Bennett injury prone. |

Again, you've provided no opinions yourself. It's alright though, if I couldn't come up with an original thought myself, I'd hide it by attacking others too. Think what you want, but literally everything said here is simply an opinion, yet you act like you're the GM for the pens. |

he is kinda right about the offer though. why would they give up a prime prospect and a 2nd for maf?maf for niemi and nich or 1st. is the absolute max I can see. then we trade niemi to toronto and trade for elliot as a backup |

Toronto won't go near Niemi. Not sure Stars will trade Nich either, is he on the block or is it HBuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?
Still believe if the cap allows, Flower starts here. Zatts in WBS (signs a 2way contract), then when Flower gets traded next season up in the NHL giving Jarry the keys to the WBS castle unless the Flower trade returns a goalie. |

the problem with LTIR is that you cant put a player on it until opening day, but teams have to be under the cap BEFORE that.

and what are you also sending to toronto to take the cap dump that is niemi?
must be something nice as he had worse stats on a cup contending team than bernier had on the worst team in the league, and he has term left. |

That's all HB talk. No way Babs goes near Niemi unless Seguin is coming with him. |

Conservatively speaking . . The Pens are Fracked, much like the BHawks are Fracked. Both clubs spend heavy on the prove stars and a few bad contracts too boot which are magnified in a had to mouth cap league. The bolts will be in cap hell next year. The Kings should be worse off but snuck out form under Richards bad contract.
At some point the talent will end up in AZ - and cheaper than Sid, Taser, or Stamkos type contracts... The NHLPA has to be so excited about this cap. |

that is how it is. 1 team can't be the best or one of the best for a very long period. I mean no team have been in the playoffs 10 years + straight except detroit and pittsburgh. |

I guess its up to him, if he wants to be a starter elsewhere, or a backup here for a season. I just think a 30 year old goalie in his prime, who is used to starting 55-60 games a season, will back up a guy who the coach obviously likes more than you. He has two cups, on his way to probably a hall of fame career...if he keeps starting. I guess it just depends what is important to him. I would tend to think, being a starter in net is what is most important to him at this stage. I just think if it comes down to him being a backup here or a starter anywhere else, he would take the starting gig...you could see how unhappy he was...and the DK article really points out how MAF was feeling....maybe that changes this summer, who knows. - Thorny
When has,Sullivan ever said he prefers Murray? What makes it so obvious that he prefers Murray? I'm not saying he doesn't but outside of the media & fans assuming he favors Murray there is really nothing definitive that proves that's true at this point.

I agree Wilson is probably up to stay but it has nothing to do with him signing a 1way contract and if he struggles during camp I think he will definitely be sent back to WBS for a short time.

I said before, don't fix what ain't broke. Move fleury, sign a competent backup (enroth would be my choice) and that would allow you to keep lovejoy and most likely Schultz. Cullen could comeback as well if he wants to give it another go. Still should have plenty of cap room to work with at the deadline. They also have all of their 2017 picks plus could add a few more if fleury is traded - drummer829
The first time in years I had faith in my Goaltender in the playoffs and everyone talking about moving Murray!!! You might be the only one with my view. That 6 million Fleury counts against the cap would look good skating with Sid and you don't HV Ave to drop anyone. |

That's easily fixed through paper moves, send down a few waiver exempt players for a few hours to get under the cap and then call them back up immediately after the season officially starts and Dupuis goes on LTIR. Teams do it every year.

At 29 Zatkoff hs aged out of waiver exemptions, he will need to clear waives if not on the NHL roster regardless of the contract he signs.
