and since one of the few good goalies are now gone the value for flower goes up. especially since bishop is not THAT much better and he is same age and is more expensive cap wise. - martox
And honestly, Bishop will get a raise after next season. Because everyone's value goes up with the cap each year.
Should be a high second and a mid second. I'd love to get that deal while not taking on salary. Will let us target Ladd/boedker in free agency. If we add one of them it means we won't need to add a rental at tdl. So will be very good in terms of pick addition.
For Toronto anderson seems better choice as their window isn't quite open. For someone a guy whose already a true 1 but older could work.
I guess expect a deal soon. Now that someone set the mkt price should make gms feel comfortable on price. 2 high to mid 2nds is fine by me - sditulli
I'd still rather the prospect/player and a pick, vs two picks. Or hell, I'll take the cheap but good player, and a 3rd or 4th pick. I hate the "win-now" mode... but we just won, so lets (frank)ing string together more deep runs in the next 2-3 years, where we have the bulk of this team locked in.
Anyone know where that chart was RW has posted a few times over the last two years is... regarding Draft picks and NHL success probability?
I know other bloggers use it too... just trying to figure out what pick on average is the 1st round cut off. I have it in my head as 14th, but thinking it might have been 18 or 19. - Guile
For the Penguins top 3 rounds are running nearly 100% of late. Seriously check past 5 drafts nearly everyone is promising in wbs or on pens.
I think Rutherford is hoping boedker comes in below 4.5. If so 2 2nds and boedker and no maf would be fine by me

Honesty depends on free agency and how well Rutherford can sell our targets on signing here at reasonable costs. If we can accomplish that then I prefer having lottery tickets.

Why Ladd? He doesn't seem to fit. Our roster seems pretty set the way it is.
Should be a full cap dump at that price. If we take back a bad salary return should be boosted. Anderson signed for fleury money and I think most gms rate fleury above Anderson . Age is a problem but I think fleury can play for a while still and is far more proven. His work at the beginning of this year made him our regular season mvp.
Talk Ottawa has called too so it might not be a one horse race - sditulli
Hopefully Ottawas offer starts with Hoffman. I'd take him over Frolik even at the same salary, any day.

Oh, I know we have had a LOT of good fortune with picks in the upper rounds, Kap might be the worst one, and we traded him. But I wanted the one for all the NHL for reference for a friend.
Yeah, pass on Ladd. He's a player that could get old very quickly. Some team will hate the final couple/few years of his deal. - madmike71
Not trying to pile on the original poster. He might have a legit reason. But we have Wilson, Sundqvist, possibly Blueger, and Sprong (February?) available this year. We just witnessed what younger players do for our lineup. Why mess with a winning formula? Its like trying to make Jack Daniels better when you know the right answer is more, more, and more.

Rutherford supposedly wants him. Depends on price. He's already starting to decline. But he's still a 25 goal scorer. I don't think you have to go overkill on identity. If a guys a good hockey player and you have an entire season to fit him in then I will take him..
Legitimately concerned with him declining. He's 30 years old. I'd be fine with some like 5 years 22.5/25. We are in win-now. If you get 2 good years from him as top 6. 2 good 3rd line players. And then what Kunitz is now I'm fine with it. Loads the team up right now when we are at our peak. Not guaranteed he will decline though. He's a lot like Kunitz. If he ages like Kunitz we would be fine at those numbers. Age wise a 5 year deal would mimic Kunitz last 5 years age wise.
Hoffman would be nice, but he's 27 goals last year and 29 this year. RFA for 1 year then UFA. Going to be pricey to sign and seems like a haul for fleury, but yes I'd probably do a Hoffman for Fleury swap.

Guentzel is my new favorite player that may be up and coming for the Pens after he put up 14 points in the postseason for our AHL club. Came there for about the last 10 games of the regular season after his college season and then lit up the playoffs.
Nothing like having more depth then we've had in nearly a decade

No chance Sprong sniffs the NHL this year, they will save a year of him, thus making him auto protected for the expansion draft...if there is a silver lining to him being hurt, I would think thats it. I still dont trust Sun as the 4th line center, I would rather have Cullen back. I am however, curious to see how Wilson will play this year, thought he was coming around right before his injury.

I understand wanting to add a proven player like Ladd, however like you, I think Ladd is a terrible fit. Boedker is more "in-line" with the style this team plays.
Wilson is the only guy that I see possibly contributing offensively out of that group next year. I'm not 100% sold that Sheary is a good long term fit with Sid. So, I understand wanting to add a winger.
We shall see, but if MAF get's moved I don't think Ruth sits on that cap space.

I believe in balance. Try not to tilt too far into one camp. Over 30 players can still make an impact. Bill Guerin/Cullen are older players and helped us win cups. If you can afford to add a good piece on a player over 30 then you do it. I think Wilson will be a good player, but I have my doubts on Sundqvist - Blueger/Guentzel are still question marks, sprong won't contribute this year other than a 9 game tryout for development potentially when he's healthy.
I'm not a big believer in more, more, more. Every decision is independent of its own facts. We went more, more, more of sticking with out guys. One guy worked out Kunitz, one ran into health problems (Dupuis), and one guy was a complete failure (Scuderi). I want to sign the Kunitz. And the Dupuis was just bad luck.

Can you really have a team that is only speed? Or do you need a couple guys like Horn and to a lesser extent Kunitz. I think you can have a ton of speed, but mix in a few grittier guys.
Though I'm actually coming around to the idea of trading Hornqvist. But we still see his value even though he can't do a lot of things we want our forwards to do. He is an elite net front guy and that has added something to our lineup.
I don't think she really trusts anyone at this point, perhaps Brienne, but thats it. Perhaps she wasn't sure they would show up, so didn't want to have them as part of the plan. You could see she was annoyed that they didn't ask her about the battle plans, and she knew Ramsay the best. I must say, the battle scene was awesome tv. there were a few times I thought Jon would die, or Thurmond might bite it fighting the Karstark. - Thorny
That was no doubt the best depiction of a large scale medieval battle in the history of TV/film. Incredibly realistic with the brutality and battle tactics. Though the ending was predictable(horn sounding in the distance and suddenly reinforcements appear on the horizon), everything in between was done so incredibly well that it didn't matter. I thought Jon was going to die again on 2 occasions(the cavalry charge after getting lured in off guard and when he was getting trampled). I think this upstaged both Blackwater and Hardhome.
I actually think Sansa has a deep love in some sick twisted part of herself for Littlefinger, and that will eventually get between her and her devotion to house Stark/Jon Snow. Baelish has a master plan and i don't think it involves the Starks any longer than he needs/needed Sansa to claim Winterfell/the North.
Why would Ottawa have any interest in Fluery? To me, Calgary, Dallas, and Winnipeg are the only teams needing a goalie. - hipcheck_goalie
TIOPS reported that Ottawa inquired. Anderson is a little old; if he had 1 year on his contract I'd be interested. I'd consider it a win for them if they worked out something like
Fleury - Anderson + 2nd
Maybe they just wanted to put their name in the race if Rutherford got desperate to make a move.
