That's not a nice way to welcome the new guy. At least give him a few days to feel the place out first. - jtommyt

You guys are (frank)ing crazy. Reimer is not equal to Ramo.
Reimer- 215 career gp/2.79gaa/0.914sv% all but 8 games with Toronto. Most games in a season is 37.
Ramo - 159gp/2.85gaa/0.906sv% split between Tampa and Calgary. Most games played in a season is 40.
They are not equal. Ramo is not coming back. - dr_soiledpants

So is it fair to say that the following are our options
1.) We trade for MAF
2.) We trade for Bishop
3.) We trade for Howard
4.) We trade for Bernier
5.) Wait for free agency and sign Reimer
6.) Re-sign Ramo
(I don't like options 4 - 6)
Personally I like the MAF option he's a great regular season goalie and only has a couple years left on his contract. Having said that I think what may be a strong possibility is trading for Howard. Detroit is in some trouble with Datsyuk's contract and I doubt they find any takers on taking his contract on for a year, so it may not take much to land Howard. Howard's contract is also done in a couple years and is a smidge cheaper then MAF. Maybe Detroit would be willing to take on Wideman (cause they always seem to need defenseman) and we get Howard....?
Sorry also a new guy that's just putting in his two cents!

If you want Howard, the Wings will give him to you... the question is, do you really want Howard?
I agree with what someone posted earlier about a 2nd and Klimchuk for Fleury. That is fair enough to me from the view of both teams. |

Ya, I don't really want Howard. They'll find someone to take Datsyuk's hit (they'll pay for it, but someone at the cap floor will use it as an opportunity to grab a good prospect/pick).
Klimchuk and a 2nd actually isn't a terrible return for Fluery. Klimchuk didn't have a great year in the AHL, but the coach said he made significant strides in his play without the puck. He could pan out to be a decent 2-way 3rd liner.
I wouldn't be willing to pay much more than that though... |

Agreed that would be fair but if you got a tad less it would be because of the goalie market. |

Ya, i didn't realize .914 and 2.79 are equal to .906 and 2.85. Reimer is no world beater, or my first choice, but he's better than Ramo. |

It's a moot point anyway. Ramo most likely won't be ready for the start of the season, and going into another season without even trying to bring in a #1 goalie sends the wrong message to the players.
BT has promised to address goaltending and he has said that he expects this team to do better. If he doesn't do his part and bring in a legitimate NHL goaltender then he may as well flip everyone of his players the bird on opening day.
Reimer and MAF should be our targets. That extension Bishop will be after could bite us in the ass, especially if Gillies turns out to be who we expect him to be. |

Fleury has a shot to be much more tha a stop gap. Barrasso Roy hazek all had their best statistical years at fleury's age.
Fleury was blessed with generational physical attributes. It's always been the mental side that held him back. Coming off his 2 best statistical years he might be aging quite well. Could end up being a steal no matter what you pay. |

So I guess strombo is out and Ron mclean is back in. Now if they could replace kyper, and those stupid, short chairs they have to sit on it might be tolerable to watch. |

It's too bad, actually. I was ok with Strombo. I thought he added to a new generation. I grew up with McLean and I like him, but having the younger guy take over was kind of refreshing. Still, I'm ok with McLean. |

Ya, blaming poor ratings on Strombo is kind of a cop our by Rogers. I thought Strombo was good at trying to simplify the game for the more casual hockey fans. I like Maclean as well, but they need to get younger, more interesting guys established now. Cherry isn't going to live forever. |

It's called negotiations. You always go with the highest point on your first pitch. GMJR can't honestly think he could actually get the 6th overall. |

I get that but they should be past the point of ridiculous offers and be getting to something closer to the actual deal |

That's a crazy ask from Rutherford. Is it possible there is another team in the mix ? He's playing a risky game if Calgary's the only potential landing spot. If i'm BT, I go quite on Rutherford. |
